Feel Your Surroundings

Have you ever walked into a room and noticed it looked and felt really good?  Have you wondered if it is easier to get things done in a clean organized office versus a cluttered one in disarray?  Have you ever noticed whether or not you feel uneasy if you sit with your back to the door?  In general, how much do you think your surroundings impact you?

Between our homes and offices, most of us spend approximately 80-90 percent of our time indoors.   And, when improving our lives, we sometimes forget the importance of our space.

Feng Shui, simply put, is a way to arrange your environment to enhance your life.  It’s a powerful tool to create harmony and balance, and manifest what you want.

Whether you’re a Tools To Life veteran, recently joined, or just stopped by to read the Inspirations, I’d like to encourage you to look at your space with a new set of eyes.

Everything in our environment has a message for us.  That’s because everything has a thought, feeling or memory attached to it.  Some of the messages are positive, some are neutral and some are negative.  Now, imagine if you set up your home and office so that all of those messages support and uplift you?  It’s an empowering concept.

Feng Shui is about energy.  In our space, one of the primary goals is to maximize energy flow. Why?  Because when energy flows freely in your space, it also flows freely in your life.

For the next few weeks, take a look around at your environment.  Notice what you like and what you don’t.  Observe the furniture, the artwork, the lighting, the plants, the rugs, the curtains, the paint…as well as the appliances, gadgets, mementos, books, files, and all the rest. Do you like it? Or not?

Assess…check in to see if your energy lifts or sinks – or perhaps stays neutral.  Let go of any judgment and just observe.  When I walk into a room, when I touch this object, when I look over at that item, does my energy sink, lift or stay neutral?

You can also do this exercise outside.  Notice what makes you smile, and what depletes you. Look around with your new Feng Shui eyes. Become aware of the impact your environment may have on you.

You might be surprised at how much your surroundings are impacting you physically, mentally and emotionally.  Have fun, and leave a comment as you observe and discover!

What a wonderful idea!  I've got a couple of different collections, one is piggy banks.  (Too bad they aren't full)  They are cluttered amongst stuff other people have given me.  It looks terrible and I need to get busy on that now.  Thanks for the inspiration!

I have never thought about energy in that way.  W

what a concept.  Now that you say it. I know your right.
I am a photographer and designer by trade and I get my energy from my creations. And nature.  I feel part of the beauty and it lifts me to new heights when I see it in a photo or a thing of beauty I created. Sharing ones talent is important. I was always told if you don't share it you will loose it.  So interacting with nature by preserving it in print is were my power and energy lies. And I am sure that everyone has a way to tap into there energy for the good of their inter-being.
Everyone must stand for something or you fall.

to see with eyes that are looking for how energy affects me is exciting. Does this or that room in my home make me happy and energized? Do I have stuff in there that drains me? Very Kool.  fits with my current Clean Sweep declutter too so perfect timing for choosing a room and make it lift me up. Thanks and Welcome!
