Basketball

They said playing basketball would kill me. Well, not playing basketball was killing me.

Last week my inspiration subject was health. After being sick for six weeks regaining health was like a rebirth. I always look into the deeper meaning as everything I experience in life. If you take the time it offers an opportunity to learn and grow. So I asked myself what lessons did being sick offer. For one thing I wanted to examine what I was doing with my health when I felt good.
As I took a look back I realized that I was stuck in a routine of working. In fact when I wasn't working, I was working. It's great to have passion and fulfilling to be busy, but it is also easy to forget to just have fun. What is the point of being healthy if you don't take advantage it? It is like having an incredible performance car in the garage, but never taking it for a drive.
We get stuck in routines and stop living to our potential whether it is work, watching TV or other. Realizing this I decided to take action. What do I like to do? What would be fun? One thing popped into my mind: basketball. When I was a kid you could not drag me off the court. I could play all day and never want to stop. Somehow, we just let things go. So I called a friend, went and bought a ball and went to the park and played for hours. Yes, the legs hurt! The pain is totally worth it...fun, fun, fun!!!
All the things that you do that are important to you that take your time, these things that you feel you have to do, these are the very things you would do better if you allowed yourself more joy. You are better at your job, in your relationships and everything that you do when you are energized by having fun.
What fun is missing from your life? What routines are you stuck in? When we look back on our lives our regrets are mostly filled with what we have not done. You will never look back and regret the time you took to enjoy. As our goal is always to inspire you to grow and fulfill all your potential, that includes joy. What joy have you let slip by in the routines of your life?
Maybe it's basketball, Frisbee, horseback riding, singing, or just taking a walk. Take action and wake up the joy in your life. Take time within your schedules and busy routines to take your life back. Fight for it because it seems at times as we get older the basic joys slip away like they were stolen from us. However it is not that joy is stolen--we simply let it go. Your life is always up to you. You have the power to effect change anytime you decide. It's as simple as going to the court and taking a shot at the hoop. This week take a shot at joy! I am sure you will score major life points regardless if the ball goes in the basket, or not.
It's a great idea love it!
