Do You Think About Writers?
K Wordbird Bate The Writer's Life Coach
This week I saw the movie The Soloist. "Do you think about writers, Mr. Lopez?" is a quotation from the film. I've been pondering this question since the moment I heard him ask it. How much, how often, in what way, do I think about writers? Which ones do I think about? What draws me to them? Do I think about them with intense passion, fascination, deep admiration, sheer awe? Do I pay them enough homage? Invite them in? Give them enough of my time? I could invite a different great mind to tea every day, if I want. I remember years ago I gave an entire summer to John Steinbeck. I donno about him, but I had a blast.
What about you? Which writers do you think about? Do you envision their faces? Their lives? Their books? Their famous quotations? Do you memorize their funny quirks or writing habits?
I'm interested to know if you have seen the movie, or read the book, The Soloist? If so, what did you feel, and think, about it? I hope you see it, and talk to your community, your friends, and your writing support system, about it.
Let Yourself Bloom!
My son took me to see The Soloist on Mother's Day...I thought it was awesome !!! I have friend who is a writer and I let him know how much I enjoy his stories often ! :)
Fantastic! How neat your son took you to see it, too.
To inhabit the fertile mind of William Shakespeare, for just five or ten minutes, would be quite an amazing and enlightening experience !! LFSC.
Yes, I often think of writer's, being a writer myself and a lover of books.
I have not seen that movie the soloist but I bet it's real good. I think though that I will wait until the dvd comes out.
What would we be without writers and artists. Bored and depressed, I guess. I at least, now I would be in a bad way without them. Bye for now, Chantilly signing out til next time...
Now I had never thought of being IN the mind of a great writer! Just ten minutes could be amazing. We could even pick a time they were composing a certain work!?
Yes, we would be a completely different world, without them.
