Get Hungry

Being hungry is one of the most powerful ways to achieve what you want in your life. If you listen to people, it seems that they are always talking about what they want. Although the conversations always take place, I don't feel people really have the desire for change. This might seem strange. After all, who wouldn't want to be in great shape, be healthy, develop a great career, have a wonderful relationship, and all the other wants in life?
If all these wants in life were really wanted, my question is where is the hunger? What I have seen, is that when a person really wants something they have a natural energy that drives them to make it happen. They don't need to be reminded or told to do it. They are driven and do what it takes to create it.
Remember having a spark for someone? You thought about that person throughout the day. You visualized being with them. You put energy and time in getting ready to see them. Made plans on where and what to do. You didn't have to be reminded to call, or think about them. You were hungry for this person and naturally driven to find a way to be with them.
The same has been true for so many things in your life. Maybe is was when you were a kid and wanted that skateboard or bike and you did everything you could to get it. Maybe it was being on the basketball team and you practiced by yourself for hours and hours on the court. Think about all the different times you really really wanted something. Think about the endless supply of energy you had.
When you were hungry for an end result you didn't let the how stop you. The how was not even a thought, the want is what you were aware of. What is amazing is that many of the taught methods to achieve are naturally performed in pursuit of hunger. We visualize and have a clear picture in our mind of the result we want. We focus on what we need to do today to get closer to the result. Best of all, we get into action. We don't allow setbacks to discourage us. We maintain focus on the goal. Most important, we accept what it is we have to do and do it.
You see when you are really hungry, you don't say I will eat tomorrow. You find food today! So how hungry are you for the changes you want? Are you putting off the changes you want till tomorrow? Are you willing to do what you need to? Are you concentrating on the "how?" The how is really not that important. I know that figuring out how might seem like the right approach. Yet, what I always tell people is to figure out what they really want, and they how will reveal itself.
The how is most often a delaying tactic because you are not really hungry. Back to that spark. Did you stop pursuing that desire in the how, or did you start making moves? When you really want something, you get started today. You really want to lose weight, eat better today, take a walk and burn some calories today. You really want changes in your life, get hungry for those changes. Get hungry like you have to have food and you can't wait. Get hungry and you will figure out the how and you will do what it takes to create the change you want.
