Get Your Credit Score
Michael Lawrence The Wealth Coach
QUESTION: Michael, I know you are big on each of us staying on top of our credit scores and knowing our credit history. You told us how to get a free copy of each of our credit reports, and how to review them. Can I get my Credit Score for free, too?
ANSWER: Soon you can sign up for my Expert Program all about you and your credit. There I will really teach you in depth about what all that means, and how to manage your credit. Meanwhile, there are many offers on line and on TV to help you get your credit score. Are they free? Not exactly. The important thing to do is READ THE FINE PRINT!! Anywhere you see an ad for “free credit score,” you will see a lot of fine print as well. What is in the fine print is that you have to sign up for a monthly credit monitoring service for about $100 per year.
That does not sound like free to me!
Instead, you can get an ESTIMATE of your credit score free at the following website:
http://www.bankrate.com/brm/fico/calc.asp?lpid=BKRATE29
It will not be exact, but it will show you a range.
Be honest when you are answering the questions. There is no one looking over your shoulder. In any case, your score is based on fact, not incorrect answers.
Remember, there’s an opportunity once a year to get your credit report at no charge. I recommend you get the initial one, work on any errors you need to correct, and then get another one every 3 or 4 months. That way you can see progress.

Just walk through the steps at the site. Then look for my program in the near future, to help you understand and manage your credit and credit information.
You can get a copy of your credit report 1 time per year on one of the major reporting agencies at www.annualcreditreport.com- I chose Equifax because a mortgage officer recommended them. You can get it free one time per year and do not have to buy any programs. I paid $7.95 to get my FICO score.
