Inward Outward
Devlyn Steele
Everything you need you have with you at all times. Can you even imagine that? We spend so much of our time thinking and pursuing what we believe we need, but what if you always had it with you? What then? Is such a thing even possible? We are trained to think that what we need comes from outside of us. Our approach is to bring what is on the outside inward, outward to inward. We need to turn that around to realize that you can instead bring what is inward and apply it to what is happening, inward to outward.
Imagine you are stuck in traffic. Your thoughts are that you "need" to get out of traffic, I "need" to get home. You think about all the things you need, but you already have everything you need with you. What you need is patience, calm and even joy; in truth no matter how bad the traffic is you can have all that.
Think back to a situation where you were naturally patient. Maybe it was listening to a child, helping a friend, and draw from that. Go inward and transfer that to the situation you are in. You can draw upon and apply what you really need to any situation. We go through so many situations where our thoughts are that we do not want to be there--work, home, and more. We often think about what we need to make things better.
Life situations are reality and for so much of what is happening, you have no control over it. You can not control traffic, but you control your experience while you are in traffic. You do not control always what you're going through at work or at home or out in the world, but once again you do control how you experience it.
Everything you experience is the result of what you bring to the situation. That same traffic can be frustrating and irritating, or you can actually experience joy. Yes, joy! Spend time creating within yourself the experiences that you can call on to re-ignite feelings and experiences you have had; and transfer and channel them into the situation you are in. Apply what is inward to the outward and you change what you are going through. It is also a way to change how you approach what you are doing. Imagine bringing confidence into a situation where you are not confident; strength where you feel weak, joy into everything.
Everything you need you have with you at all times. Go inward and apply outward...inward outward.
Thank you for another wonderful inspiration Devlyn. It's so nice to have someone like you who is so reliable and inspiring; someone you can always count on! It's so rare! Thank you.
