To Write: Express Your Mind's DialogueK. Wordbird Bate The Writer's Life Coach
All of us are of at least two minds, with inner mind dialogue going on near constantly. Yoga and also quiet, non-judging observation of our behavior and feelings are two ways to become aware of and begin to quiet that dialogue. I think long walks, and sports, are also good ways to clear both the mind and the body.
Journaling is another excellent way. To be able to write down whatever comes up, without censoring or judging, and let it be what it is. You can get a ton of great writing ideas and articles from this kind of writing, as well as clearing the inner pond of your mind by getting thoughts and feelings out.
Thoughts from 365 TAO: Daily Meditation:
The very word dialogue means talking between two sides...We all have two sides; as long as they are not united, we cannot attain wholeness...we must never risk repressing ourselves. Indeed, rather than shutting away the unpleasant or unruly aspects of ourselves, we must take them all out and examine them. Daily introspection bring harmony...Those aspects that are "bad" can be dissolved. Those that are of advantage can be cultivated...in this gradual way, we resolve ourselves with our subconscious mind, and free ourselves from struggle and conflict
I still talk in my sleep
I still dream.
How can there be perfect stillness
When my brain's so noisy?
You can use your writing to create, express and heal the inner noise in your head, and heart. The important thing is to allow yourself free and uncritical expression of what you might consider the "bad" or weird side of yourself. As you think of our greatest writings, and those most interesting, they are from writer's who have the courage to express what many of us hide or repress. Be sure you feel that your writing privacy will be respected.
