You Are My Favorite
The Favorite Principle -by Devlyn Steele
I was out to eat the other night with friends and was asked while my meal was in front of me, what my favorite food was. My reply, "This meal in front of me is my favorite and the company I am with is also my favorite." To be honest I couldn't stand them, just kidding...
All kidding aside, I was being honest. Let me give you another. I was explaining to my hairdresser the same principle that wherever I am in fact I am doing my favorite thing with my favorite people. He got a big smile on his face and said, "So right now being here with me is your favorite." I said, "Of course."
This is how it works, the moment you start thinking about what is your favorite it brings automatic comparison to where and what you are doing. By your favorite being other than what you are doing, it means that comparison makes what you are doing a lesser moment. Nothing can ever live up to your favorite and you always build your favorite to be bigger and better than what it is in reality, so that establishes for sure that what you are doing is not as good.
I do not want to live my life in moments that are lesser than others. I want to maximize every moment. Therefore, the favorite principle establishes that the moment you are in, is your favorite. Since nothing can live up to your favorite you have now established that the moment you are in is the best. By applying this principle, you are focused on who you are with and you are maximizing your life.
You will find that you enjoy more every meal, every person you are with and everything you are doing. You will be focused in the moment and the people you are with will enjoy you and feel better around you. Life is always a perceptional experience; reality is not important. Reality is shaped by how you are looking at things. The same event can have endless different meanings and experiences simply by who is doing the looking, what attitude they choose to look with and what there are looking for.
Since it is your life, you are doing the looking and you control what attitude you are looking with, look with the attitude that I love where I am, who I am with and what I am doing. Look for your favorite in every moment.
By the way, between you and me, and don't tell anyone,
"You are my favorite!"
I absolutely agree with Coach Steele. I always try to connect to the moment I am living and the people who are part of that moment. Sometimes you discover how gratifying it is to enjoy the experience of the moment and not to wait for the ideal situation. You end up having a happier life. 21Dora21
