Your Six Senses

Devlyn Steele

How do you use your senses?

You have five documented senses:  sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.

Imagine you are in a field of flowers on a gorgeous spring day. Look, feel, smell, taste and listen to everything around you. There is so much to take in for all your senses. Now concentrate on shutting your hearing, touch, smell and taste down. With only your sight and all your focus on that, you will see so much more. You will see all the colors, how the sun reflects and every detail as you concentrate just on your vision.

Now shut down your sight, and open up your listening. You will hear the birds flying above, the buzz of the bees and the sound of the gentle breeze. Shut down your listening, and focus on your smell. All of a sudden there is a rush of different smells that you did not notice. Not only does your awareness of the flowers increase, but you can smell the breeze as it blows by.

Move on to your touch and you can feel the kiss of the sun on your skin. When you just focus on your taste, it is as though you can taste the flowers in your mouth.  Each of your senses increase what you realize as you focus on it.  Which leads us to your sixth sense.  No, not some paranormal sense as described in the movie release in 1999 called The Sixth Sense. Today we are going to present a sixth sense we all have, and that is our perception.

Your experience in life is shaped by your perception. Just like when you are in the field, when you do not focus on any one sense you do not experience the possibilities in full; when you do not focus on your perception you can miss the opportunities in your life. The interesting part is that your perception, your sixth sense, will dominate all your other senses and determine what you are experiencing.

When you are focused on your problems what you hear, see, taste, feel and smell are things to complain about.  You cannot use your senses to see opportunities. When you develop your sixth sense to focus on possibilities that is what all your senses will look for. All of a sudden things start to change in your life.  Your sixth sense is your sense that will decide what you are focused on and what your perception of the world will be.

Focus your mind all day today on opportunities and watch how all your senses go to work for you.  What will you see, hear, feel, smell and taste as you do? What will be your perception by the end of the day? You can develop your sixth sense to create opportunities that you never imagined were there before.

Mankind has progressed by those who could see what others could not because they had a highly developed sixth sense. Edison could see the light bulb, the Wright brothers could see flight and the list is endless. You don't need to change the world, but you can change your life. Open up and see the light in your life and you can discover that your life can take off and soar in the sky.  See what is not there. See it clearly in your sixth sense and realize that you can make your life what you want your life to be.

Wow.... very cool daily inspiration. I always thought the 6th sence was like a physic level ... perception...cool, I will now train my 6th sense.

Excellent piece today! I love the concept. It's true, there is something that we can tap into just like any of our other senses. That was a great way to characterize it... Thanks!

The six senses is what my doctor reommended to me!
