Burst of Smile Joy and laughter through Stillness

Goal per member: 15 minutes

Meditation.

Following is a guide for experiencing stillness from SO2U. Which we have used in previous stillness challenges .

SIT YOUR BOTTOM DOWN
 (SYBD)

That's IT, the key to your success for experiencing the Stillness.

1. It's the first and MOST important step to getting there is to just DO IT...
SYBD.

2. The second and equally important step is your  intention to
SYBD for a minimum of 15 minutes a day.

No matter: how you feel (no excuses) you can SYBD...
No matter: what you think (no excuses) you can SYBD...
No matter: how little time  (no excuses) you can SYBD...
No matter: how many thoughts (no excuses) you can SYBD..

For a minimum of 15 minutes a day

3. The third necessary step is to create a place/space (with pillow, chair, alter... what ever you choose) and return to that same place/space  with the intention to SYBD for a minimum of 15 minutes a day.

4. The fourth step is to realize that  your thoughts will never go away so you CAN feel the Stillness. At your center you ARE that Stillness. So watch out for enemy #1 the thoughts that are unceasing,  especially when one is learning to SYBD, and thoughts are often the strongest when you first sit still. You are training your brain, forming a super-highway-synapse to the place/space of Stillness.  A necessary path to your inner JOY where your inner voice listens and inspires.

5. The fifth step (and the reason the first one is so hard) is to breathe between your thoughts. Breathe in Stillness, breathe  out distractions  (even if you are distracted the entire 15 minutes). Have a thought... return to the breath. Breathe in (deeply) breathe out slowly and completely before starting again. Breathe in, breathe out. As you make a habit of SYBD for a minimum of 15 minutes a day your inner stillness will grow. Each day you are planting  seeds that are taking root. Little by little  they are becoming strong like a tree with branches to hold all your concerns and all your  "soul-usions" as you rest and re charge in it's Stillness and Joy.

Stillness becomes a beacon of light enabling us to see clearly the excuses and lies we tell ourselves that prevent us from the strength and power that comes from deep within us.

Stillness focuses us and we do our work better to fulfill our family and social duties, besides being a decisive influence on our relationships with others.

Stillness makes us strong in trials and difficulties, becoming a part of ones foundation (Tools)  in the ups and downs that come with life.

Remember the first and most important step to Stillness, Peace and Joy it brings is to:
 SYBD
for a minimum of 15 minutes a day in your place/space in the mists of the unceasing thoughts (enemy #1) and allow the Strength and Power of the Stillness deeper inside you to become greater...the thoughts will fall into the background and there you are where "Stillness Speaks".

In Joy,

Susan

erinsaverinsavRunaway Thoughts

I have the same issue with runaway thoughts but I think if we just keep it up, as time goes on we will learn how to find the silence in between our thoughts.

todayalonetodayaloneSahndra!
I hope you had a wonderful birthday.
todayalonetodayaloneRebellious mind
I'm finding it very hard to stop my thoughts runnng away with me when I sit down but I guess the more difficult it is, the more I need it.  If I can quieten my mind a little by the end of the Challenge, then I will have achieved something worthwhile.
Motivated MomMotivated MomDoes Reike count?
I realized today that I spend almost 1 hour a day in mediation practicing Reike on top of my separate mediation, so giving myself credit for both today.
CocoCocoGuys what a great day to be back

Happy Birthday to our lovely Sahndra-om. I bet she is not SYBDing today. Go on prove me wrong lol

My finger is slowly getting better after a tiny accident in the kitchen. It didn't stop me from SYBD or abs for that matter.

SYBD has become part of me now. I look forward to not thinking. Its gives me a real break. Why do we ever fill our heads with thoughts all the time I don't really know lol

Guys thanks much for all the nudges. I was so excited when I knew I had so many messages. I thought to myself I am way popular. Just kidding.

Oh,I see you have to look at the picture full size to see the moon/sun.
Sahndra_omSahndra_omNICE!

Green_Raven,I see you have your wonderful art posted! Everyone, I have to laugh at myself because when I first saw this great picture on her site I commented on how I thought it was neat the way the sun was coming through the overcast or fog. Then I read 'Frozen in the MOONLIGHT', great example of perception.Laughing!!!

This meditation thing makes me so animated!!! Who would have thought something so simple would feel this way. I would like to know more about these free downloads. I will check in to it. The CD I have now is great but we all need variety. I would like to know some of your favorites. Spirit Dreams? Gonna have to investigate. LOVE AND LIGHT-SAHNDRA

EsperanzaEsperanzaCDs

A meditation CD sounds great - so I went online and there are tonz of free downloads - so maybe I'll try one too ~

thanx

Green_RavenGreen_RavenSYBD

I have some "Spirit Dreams" meditation CD's, and a free meditation CD I got with this month's Soul & Spirit magazine, so maybe I should have a go with them?

At the moment I'm going to concentrate on the SYBD for 15mins a day, just concentrating on my breathing in the silence.  I find that very relaxing when I do it, just have to keep it up!

You'll all encourage me won't you?

EsperanzaEsperanzaTicking Clocks!!

I can't even have a ticking clock in my house! Forget sleeping with one - but now that I'm thinking about it .... I like you could use one to center your thoughts   - you know? like shutting everything out except one sound...

its a thought

Green_RavenGreen_RavenLate Starter!

I started the other day, think I did about 10 mins, I don't really know for sure, hard to time yourself (perhaps it would have helped if I looked at the clock when I started?).

I find my clock doesn't bother me.  I used to collect clocks for my bedroom, but found I ended up with lots with second hands, always ticking, and always ticking slightly out of sync with each other - so they ticked more than once a second!  In the end I got rid of all except my alarm clock, and one Grim Reaper clock, although it has a second hand, I have the battery removed, so it ticks no more!  And the time is set eerily to midnight!  It's a beautiful clock, so doesn't matter whether it ticks or not!  Just peaceful for me.

When you realise your clocks are stopping you sleeping, it's time to chuck them out!
