Hit Gym; Get Strong; Exercise; Lose Weight Phase II

Goal per member: 800 30 minutes 25 days of the month

Exercise.

We're going to form a habit of self-love and self-care by exercising at least 30 minutes a day, 25 of 30 days.

If you want to dance, run, skate, swim, pull lobster cages, deliver papers or bicycle; if you love to second-line, jump rope or horseback ride, walk the coast or climb a cliff, play volleyball or lift weights, follow a DVD at home doing tai chi or yoga or pilates, or go for a walk, any way you want to get your body moving and healthy, come on in!

Together we'll get strong, have fun and lose weight.

manderwritesmanderwritesI can't believe the fair is OVER

So I gave myself 4 hours today because I was dancing and singing for the kids for about 8 hours today - and I figure about half the time was "between times" - anyway - in the last 5 days I lost almost 10 POUNDS from dancing at the fair!  after this last 5 days  . . .  30 minutes a day seems like a VACATION!  8^)

Eventhough I knew today was the first day of the challenge, my heart just wasn't in it.  This may sound silly, but I sat on my exercise ball, in front of the TV, and I did "abs on the ball" during commercials!Embarassed
DrDebbieDrDebbieDVA?

I don't know where that healthier DVA ?came from...we must need that also.

By the way...your body ongoingly creates new cells...keeping those healthy DNA busy!

Dr. Debbie

DrDebbieDrDebbieHealthy DNA

One of the most amazing facts that I learned in one my my chiropractic wellness seminars is that exercise is REQUIRED for healthy DNA.

Once again, without exercise your DNA gets into mischief.

DNA is your basic unit of life...of health...of wellness on all levels.

Keep moving and know you are creating HEALTHY DNA EVERDAY which creates healthy cells...which create healthy organs...

30 minutes a day...such a small price for healthier DVA.

Best of health & well-being to each of you,

Dr. Debbie

WordbirdWordbirdExercise protects your health

Just reading info:

1. Even those moderately active have much lower death and illness rates than people totally inactive. (Any exercise makes you safer and healthier)

2. Your 30 minutes can be split up. If you do 10 minutes three times a day, that is more or less the same benefit as 30 minutes all at once, in terms of health.  (So get some exercise every day, here and there if not all at once)

3. You strengthen your heart and improve your circulation if your exercise is vigorous, but if you just get moving at any rate, that still "substantially cuts your disease risk."  (says Steven Blair of the Institute for Aerobics Research).

4. "There is consistent strong evidence that exercise is associated with a lower risk of breast and colon cancers."  It may be because exercise strengthens the immune system,  improves digestion, and reduces excess estrogegn. They aren't positive why. But it definitely lowers risk.(says Laurie Hoffman-Goetz, professor of health studies).

5. You make the heart healthier. You lower blood pressure, increase insulin sensitivity in muscles, increase "good" cholesterol, keep down weight and lower your risk of blood clots.

About 55% of our health conditions are directly correlated to our daily choices. So every 30 minutes you accumulate in a day, all at once or in bites, makes your body happy and protects your future!

soleilsoleilFinding Myself Again
This is my first challenge.  Its a good one for me.  I used to go to gym daily, not sure of why I quit.  So, its back to exercise and working on a positive spirit.  I'm grateful for this new day.
wordbird
thats ok we will compete with the other team and it will be fun!
WordbirdWordbirdGood to Go! Bit of PREP while we wait

HEY you guys how great to see you!

YES we will all motivate each other.

Just let the team know if you start feeling stuck or making those excuses. Ask for BOOSTS or ideas or comments.  Don't give up on yourself if you don't do this perfect. Every minute you exercise, at all, in any way, is good for you.

Just keep believing in yourself, and visioning that future you want.

We had a blast last time, and people came up with all kinds of creative ways to get in their exercise. House cleaning, decluttering, touring town with friends on foot, walks, classes, DVD's, swimming, bicycling, delivering papers, taking stairs....it was amazing. And inspiring to me.

For right now, while we wait to start, see if your friends want to join because you can team up and motivate each other in addition to the challenge team motivation.

Choose an exercise you enjoy, you have access to it, and you feel confident it's do-able for you every day.  Maybe choose two. One for rainy or busier days and to give yourself more variety.

And we need to STRETCH. Every day after the exercise. It's afterward because your muscles have warmed up and stretch easier. You can stretch out kinks and aches before they set in! So think of 2-3 stretches that feel good to you. Reach for the sky, lie on the floor with your knees up to your chest, side bends...are three popular ones.

Make sure you have that drinking water available. You'll want to keep on drinking clean water to stay hydrated and wash out toxins that are released when we drop weight.

You could also choose some exercise clothing that will feel loose and comfortable to you.

And thanks for joining. That's a vote for better health and a better life. Laughing

SunroseSunrosehow does this work?

I am in, but now what do I do? What is that clock for? Better yet where are the instruction to use this page?  I never did a challenge before so "What's it all about?"

Sincerely, Sunrose

manderwritesmanderwritesI'M IN!!!

K - now that my gym class is over - this will help me stay commited (I hope) - 8^)

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!

The fair is so much work that I have already lost 5 pounds in three days from dancing and singing from 11 to 7 every day!!  (not to mention carrying crates of instruments, speakers, etc. back and forth each day to prepare!!!

I want to keep it up with my Lifecycle/Tai Bo/Dancing/etc.

Good luck everyone.  Amanda

I have to say my first challenge-experience went a bit belly up...the abs challenge was great...it was ME who was not up for it...but repetita juvant, as they used to say in Ancient Rome...so, i am sure this time I'll do better.

Been losing enthusiasm for exercise this last month so the Challenge may be just what I need to motivate me. Thank you for putting it up, Wordbird.
Sahndra_omSahndra_omYAY!!!
We are gonna rock this one!!! I have been working with my body ball workout about 5 times a week since I have started Tools! I started at 218lbs. And now I am 208lbs. and counting!!! I feel great!!! I am fitting into a bathing suit(and looking fit/ hot) by next summer!!! This is a great way to be accountable. Thank you, Wordbird ,THANK YOU!!!
ZenGirl (canceled account)ZenGirl (canceled account)Okay, okay, okay...
Can I use the excuse that I lack commitment...it says so on my profile?  I'm kidding.  I did lose steam the first go round.  Battling depression sucks, but I'm going to try a little harder this time to stick with it!  Thanks for the motivation...even if it didn't seem well-received, it was appreciated!
