Wake up and have a great day!

Goal per member: 0 Time

Choose a time to wake up and stick to it.

Hello all!

We just wrapped up a 6 AM wakeup challenge.  It was awesome!  However, not everyone wants to or even should wake up at 6.

Regardless of what time you choose, everyone can benefit from having a steady wakeup time that matches their lifestyle.  That is the point of this challenge.

Just record what time you wake up every day.  If you wake up at 6, then record a 600.  If you wake up at 830, then record an 830.  You'll be able to see whether you're consistently hitting your mark!

One thing I learned from the last challenge is how unbelievably well the wake up drill in the Tools Checklist works.  Take a few deep breaths, smile, jump out of bed and fill up your chest with a huge invigorating breath.  It works so well.  Personally, by the time I walk to the bathroom and splash water in my face, I am now totally wide awake!

Here are some additional resources on waking up and falling asleep:

Steve Pavlina - How to become an early riser:

If you're willing to try something a little crazy, I read about this sleep technique on Tim Ferriss's blog:

FAT DOGFAT DOGPlaying catch up

I haven't been on the pc for days. Struggled to achieve my 6am daily - but I'm now aiming to re-focus. Thanks for the nudge sentient, I need all the help I can get, keep up the good work :)

SentientSentientCheering you on

Sirg,

Well, you can be rest assured that nobody here is ever going to judge you.  I'm too busy cheering you on to have time for stuff like that!

Even when you think that it's not pretty you can take pride in keying some of the times in.  After all, it means you're not lying to yourself, and honesty is going to be one of the big things that helps you change.

I know what works for me is just promising that I'll get myself to throwing water in my face.  If I can get up to turn off the alarm and then promise myself that extra 30 seconds to drench myself with cold water, I never get sleepy after that.

However we can help, just let us know!

sirgsirgGot to keep going
Apologies for not entering my times, not so impressed by them so its a bit difficult. But hey its moptivating to see some of us hitting the targets, it will keep motivating me. This morning was really bad drank too much stayed up to long and woke up very late. But I decided when i did wake to pamper myself a bit, did my routine must say being grateful everyday really helps and proclaiming "The day is mine" yes it is so all in all im still doing everything I can to take real control of my life.

SentientSentientThose weekends!

Sent out a few nudges to some of you :)

I drifted a bit later on the weekend, but I am OK with that.  It was my decision after all, so it just reflects what I already believed was acceptable behavior.

I expect to be back to 7 AM tomorrow.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful day!

SentientSentientLet's go!

I really am happy to be able to share this challenge with all of you!  I had another moment of appreciation where I realized how grateful I am to be a part of this community and to be able to partake in things like this.

For those hitting their goals, congrats and keep going!

For those who are having some trouble, don't lose heart!  The only way you learn to stand on a surf board is fall off of it a thousand times first. :)  The best are the ones that have fallen the most.

FAT DOGFAT DOG1st week and feeling good

But I keep romising myself I will use the time to get on top of my work, and while I'm kind of getting there - it's a slow process :)

BrucepBrucepDoing great
Fat Dog and Airidane are doing great!
SentientSentientOuch

Ouch,

So I stopped drinking a while ago but decided to make an exception for a friend of mine who stopped by to say hello the other day.  Fast forward to Sat morning and my unbroken string of 6 and 7 am wakeups morph to 10 am, and Sun 815 am.  Not just my wake up has suffered, but my entire day.

Everything has been going so well lately it's been strange to have two days just fall off the map in terms of getting anything done or enjoying things that matter to me.  It's been a great reminder for me that momentum is very real.  If I fell off the wagon, I'm happy that I got to see a sharp juxtaposition rather than a gradual decline that left me scratching my head trying to figure out what to do next.

I'm looking forward to using this as more motivation for the rest of this challenge and the month :)

BrucepBrucepEarly to bed, Early to rise!
I know myself, I need to start going to bed earlier, that is the answer!Smile
SentientSentientWake up routines!

I'm a huge believer in the wakeup routine.  I have always had so much difficulty with getting up in the morning.  My entire life I've been hopelessly groggy when I get out of bed.  I work from home and I've had my fair share of days getting up at noon.

This last month when I started doing what Tools prescribes to the letter, for the first time ever, I found myself awake in the morning.  Of course, going to bed roughly on time helps too.

Last challenge we did was 6 AM.. I trained myself so well that, despite the fact I am now shooting for 7 AM, my body is still automatically getting me up at 530 with no alarm every single day.  I have to lie in bed and struggle to become sleepy for the extra 90 minutes to undo the programming!

Steve Pavlina's idea of rehearsing your wake up routine - even if you do it in the middle of the day - is also really valuable.  If you use it, make sure to feel the same emotions that you want to feel in the morning.  It works!

Best of luck everyone!

sirgsirgMorning
Didnt do to well today either actually it was really difficult, hit bottom so getting out of bed today at the time I did was still a great achievement
sarayasarayaok I'm in too!
I have 2 alarms one goes on & on from 6:00 am with snoozes until 6:30 then I don't have time to think before rushing around. I commit to 6:00 am, no snoozes. Good Luck all Cool
DollDollDall's start
Ok...so not a great start for me.  Need to do better!
seaside_barbieseaside_barbiegood stuff
have never been able to stick to a tim e or avoid snooze. will try to do both.
SentientSentientGetting ready for the start!

I'm pumped to see how many people joined.  Last challenge was my first and I was blown away by how great it is to do this with a group of like minded people.  I'm really looking forward to sharing the experience with everyone.

I'm going to be testing out a 7 AM wake up time.  I'll commit to that for Days 1-15.  At that point, I'll decide if I want to adjust it at all.  This is my public commitment so I guess I can't really go back now :)

airidaneairidane5:30 wake up call
I usually get up at 6:15 but I need to get up at 5:30 so I can get a few things done before I have to wake up the kids.
BrucepBrucepEarly Bird
This is a great idea, I have been doing this lately and I get so much more done, lets do this TEAM!
