An Unexpected Death

I am creating this group for anyone who has lost a loved one unexpectedly. What do I mean by this is lost a family member or close friend to violence or an accident or sudden illness. This is not meant to demean a death to old age or to a prolonged illness. Because I know about that kind of loss too, and I know those aren't easy either. However the murder of my sister by her ex-boyfriend had more of an impact on my life than the loss of any of the family member who died of old age or cancer. As tough as those losses were I knew they were coming. A sudden untimely death really changes how you look at life.

Loss - added: 2011-05-06 13:53:37

I have lost all three of my family members in the last 2 years. My dad died suddenly in his car 2 years ago, my younger sister committed suicide 1 year ago this month, and my mom died in her sleep 3 months ago. Am fighting to understand why all this has happened and trying to move on in life. »

20 years this summer - added: 2010-05-25 14:57:34

I was 15 when I was woken up by my Uncle in the middle of the night at my moms house to hear him say that there was an accident, and my dad has passed away. My parents had divorced a couple of years earlier and I had recently moved out of my dad's house and back in with my mom. After I moved out my »

Christmas.. - added: 2009-12-31 18:24:45

..was not what I expected. I bolged a lot in the weeks after Thanksgiving/before Christmas, but have not published them. Most were fractured, random thoughts not really having any flow or meaning. Many sentences were, I suppose comments or observations while others were of the things I missed.. I so »

The things that make you remember - added: 2009-12-13 07:05:25

Yesterday I was shredding a bunch of old paper work and bills that I had been putting off doing for way too long. Some of them were two and three years old. As I was shredding them I looked at some of the dates and realized that Beth was still alive when I got those bills. At first it made me kind o »

Thanksgiving - added: 2009-11-24 18:49:01

I will be going hove for Thanksgiving for the firs time since Beth's death. Part of me is going to miss her there. but part of me knows it will mean the world to my Mom that all her remaining children are with her on Thanksgiving. I don't know how it is going to be. However I plan to be the positive »

My New Life, My New Beginning.. by: Rebecca S. Powers - added: 2009-11-21 08:43:56

My bf and I talked very openly, one of just a handful of people I know who would talk and philosophize, about death. He/we believed the body is “a vehicle” for our souls. So, when life ceases in “the vehicle” the soul moves on. I suppose it’s really a frame of mind/way of thinking. We both simply co »

A little history - added: 2009-11-10 18:50:51

In August of 2007, My sister and her two youngest daughters went to the Rascal Flats concert. They had a great time. It was the last great time they ever had together. After they got home. My Sister's ex-boyfriend broke into the house and shot all of them in the head, even the dog. They were not dis »
