December 30th my grandmother passed away, back in New Zealand and being unable to get back for the funeral I thought I would make a candle in her memory and light it on the day of the funeral.
It was a beautiful full moon here when I made the candle and I placed it under the light of the full moon and said a wee prayer.
The fragrances I chose reminded me of how I use to feel when I would visit Nan when I was little. Long summer days in her gorgeous garden scoffing down fresh fruit from her fruit garden and the smell of her beautiful ole roses.
"Frangipani, Coconut and a touch of Victorian Rose...also a couple of shavings of Dragons Blood herbs". I coloured it a soft Magenta and lit it on Wednesday the day she was buried. It will burn for 100 hours and each time I see it burning it brings tears of joy to my eye for I know she is at last no longer suffering. To me this is how I choose to celebrate her life.
