Home Based Business

Being 20 years as an accountant , I started my networking business 4 years ago as my home-based business with a company that was just starting , it is still ground floor and growing everyday, not only did I generate a sizable income, the tax benefits for the home based business are incredible.  This company fit right in with my life goals.  You can check out the company and  what I do at www.discoverlimu.com/cindy or www.cw.originallimu.com - the success we have had working with our team has built relationships , changed people's lives and created much income for everybody.  I love what I do.

Initial approach is off-putting - added: Sun, Jun 01 06:31 AM

It sounds like you've found a great business, and both of the websites look very professional.  I imagine the company gives you a lot of support.  Good for you, Cindy.

As a professional marketer, I will say that the company is probably losing a lot of prospects - me included - thorough its online approach.   I did open both websites, but never went beyond that.

On the first website, I was not allowed to look any further unless I gave my name and contact information.  Until I know more about any company, I do not give them information that will put me on their mailing list.  Because they did not allow me access to what appears to be a very informative website, they did not allow me to learn more about their company.  As an individual concerned with my privacy and as a business operator, this is a concern to me.

On the second website, I was again blocked access.  Access was blocked by a plaquet with links to various promotional videos (I assume, since I never opened them).  Unless I went on this "guided tour" I was not to be allowed to look at the website.  As a professional and a business operator, I prefer to be able to browse the website and learn about the company on my own.  Many potential prospects will feel the same way and will be turned away by this company's approach.

It's a shame.  The company looks very promising, but its approach only serves to make it appear a bit suspicious.  Cindy, you might want to pass these concerns on to the company.  They need to take a far more open approach to letting prospective investors/partners have access to their information.

Best wishes with your venture.

All of the Above. - added: Sun, Jun 08 01:38 PM

Your company looks very professional and marketing savvy.  From what I've seen of their websites without actually signing up for anything or giving them my information, the websites look well designed and effective.  Yes, do tell them that they may be losing valuable new prospects by forcing people to give out names and e-mail addresses before they have the opportunity to learn more about the company and its products.  But do absolutely keep your connection to these two websites.  This corporate connection and support can be of great value to you.

Yes, get your own website as well.  This is a good idea.  Unless you have some professional experience in website design, graphic design, marketing, and effective marketing writing, either seek out friends who do have the experience or hire professionals to help you.  If it costs you some money, it will be well worth it.

Are you able to add links to those corporate pages?  If so, then be sure to add links back to your own website.

On your own page, be sure to add links to both corporate pages.

Whereever else you may be on the web - facebook, myspace, Tools - try to include links back to your website.

On your business card and any other printed promotional materials, include your website url and your business e-mail address.

Network.  Mention the website to anyone and everyone you talk with, whether or not you think the conversation is about business.

Sign your vehicle with the website url and your business e-mail address.

Add content to your website that will be useful to visitors whether or not they buy your products.  Update the content regularly so that people will have a reason to return.

Develop an e-mail newsletter to be regularly distributed with interesting and useful content in addition to some promotion for or information about your products.   Give your visitors the opportunity to sign up to receive this newsletter.

Always include the website url in every e-mail you send, perhaps as a signature line, and in every other piece of correspondence you send out.

In general, be sure to tell everyone and anyone all about your exciting new website.

I hope this is helpful.

I will pass it on - my business is growing and I want to move it forward - The discover site does require a name and the other site should allow you to look without signing up - I am not sure why that happened , maybe I should just design my own web page - what do you thibnk about that and if I do , how do I drive people to the web page?
