I had my business downtown, but with the high cost of food, gas, & utilities and hardly any tourism, a decision had to be made. I moved my florist shop/gift shop/indoor plant store to my home. I made a highway sign, but it doesn't get seen unless you're in the left turn lane to go down my road. The other is at the driveway entrance.
I get quite a bit of internet sales, but I'd like to get the locals from Sequim & Port Angeles shopping here as well. Newspaper ads haven't worked and are expensive as well as the local radio station. I've dropped off brochures and business cards to put into the local jewelry shop. I give them an occasional flower arrangement to brighten up their store. They put my card into their bag when a customer buys something. I've also got a regular account for flowers at the kidney ctr. and I've gotten customers from that. I've taped my business card to mailboxes and have gotten calls or emails off of that as well. I've joined the Chamber of Commerce, but I don't think that's helped.
Any suggestions to improve local business would be greatly appreciated. I tried the Soroptomists a couple of times, but it's hard to be there at 7am and try to network. Besides they want money for a continental breakfast and I don't have spare cash. The move and business being slow, has put a crunch on my pocketbook.
