jldppd Life after Combat...
I was in the Navy for 8 yrs and did ta our in Iraq for 9 months. Then I didn't think I was going to be affected or changed by the things I witnessed and did but the first week of me bieng back home my husband had to take me to the hospital. It just so happend that is was a VA hospital they he took me too. As soon as the Dr. was alone and I was strapped to the bed having problems breathing and feeling like I was having a heart attack he looked at me and asked me, "Mam, did you just come back from combat." I replied, "yes." He then told me I was not having a heart attack I was having a panic attack. 9 months later I was diagnosed with PTSD Chronic with Anxiety. I am not here to re-live what I went through or to compare war stories. What I want to do is help one another with using some of the skills I have learned on how to cope after combat as well as learn new ones.
