Use the distractions - added: Thu, Apr 03 01:37 PM

I don't think meditation will be very helpful if we can only do it in a dark quiet room.  Life isn't that way. Let the distractions happen. . . . but just watch them instead of letting them take over. Dog Barking? Let it bark, just don't start wondering why is he barking, is that my dog? I wonder what kind of dog it is?  Just watch the barking.  In time that will allow you to take your still mind into your daily life where it will do you some good.  It is said that if your trying to work on patience be thankful for annoying people otherwise how would you practice. If your trying to develop still mind amidst confusion, be thankful for distractions, so you can practice.

Just my opinion.

Guided meditation with CDs is excellent.

Anything relaxing and tranquil will do.

I like Mozart Naturally.

The Distactions - added: Tue, Feb 12 12:00 AM

I know what you mean Jea. I think the only way I turn off the distractions is by listening to guided meditations. By using head phones that block out noise , darkening a private room even using an eye mask you can achieve the solitude you need to meditate.

Please give a listen to my guided meditation Embrace at http://cdbaby.com/cdrbabish

Peace be with you.
