I don't think meditation will be very helpful if we can only do it in a dark quiet room. Life isn't that way. Let the distractions happen. . . . but just watch them instead of letting them take over. Dog Barking? Let it bark, just don't start wondering why is he barking, is that my dog? I wonder what kind of dog it is? Just watch the barking. In time that will allow you to take your still mind into your daily life where it will do you some good. It is said that if your trying to work on patience be thankful for annoying people otherwise how would you practice. If your trying to develop still mind amidst confusion, be thankful for distractions, so you can practice.
