Productivity Days

What is a productivity day?

A productivity day is a day where you will be especially productive because you share your goals with other people on an hourly basis on the phone. As soon as you're off the phone, you'll get busy doing what you said you would.

How does this work?

We'll meet every hour on a conference line (US number - I might be able to arrange Skype as well). At your first check-in, everybody states their goal(s) for the day plus their goal(s) for the next hour. You'll have 30 seconds for this. Afterwards at the top of every hour you'll report what you got done and what you intend to do in the next hour.

The idea is to check in every hour but it's OK if you miss a check-in because of an appointment, meeting, lunch break etc. However, if you sign up for a productivity day, you should be able to do at least 4 check-ins.

How often do activity days happen?

They will happen on an irregular basis and can be during the week as well as at weekends. They will be announced in advance.

What is the time frame of a productivity day?

The start as well as the end of such a productivity day will be announced in advance. I live in Switzerland so people in the US will probably join in a bit later than people in Europe. Once I call it a day, people who are participating can still continue if they want.

So when is the next activity day?

Well, I won't announce a productivity day before at least 1 or 2 people have shown an interest (joined the group) in such a day. So join the group if you might be interested to experience a productivity day for yourself.

How do I sign up for a productivity day?

Ideally, let me know a day before a productivity day takes place via a posting. Please state the time of your first intended check-in.

Isn't it counterproductive to spend time on the phone instead of actually working on your to do's?

I'll make sure that we spend a maximum of 5 minutes on the phone. Everybody has to be brief. Most people who have experienced a productivity day report that it is fun and motivating, and most importantly, they were very focused and productive.
