I am a firm believer in the power of goal setting. A book I would recommend to others for goal setting is Discover Your Purpose: A Simple Guide to Setting and Reaching Your Goals. It's a workbook (which is nice, because I hate reading self-help novels, I prefer the interaction). I think what makes it work is that is really simple and straight to the point.
