Hey, I'm no expert, but recently I've been trying to exercise more consistently by doing yoga which pretty much goes hand in hand with meditation and I am finding that the more consistently that I do the practice the better I am getting and the more my bad thoughts start to just come and go, rather than stick around and bother me and bring me down or keep me down. It's also been helping me deal with the new situations that happen every day. Peace.

I agree with aartisans.
It's SO important to practice training your thoughts...noticing when you are thinking something negative...immediately placing something brand new there.
There are times that the negative is so heavy, however, that it doesn't work very well.
That's when EFT (Emtional Freedom Technique) really comes in handy.
There's a free manual at Gary Craig's website.
Here's also a page that has a couple audios and a picture to follow about "Change".
Brad Yates Change Tapping - http://www.bradyates.net/page41.html
When you first start doing EFT it will feel like you are not doing it right now that it is not working.
It is...you just haven't made enough changes yet to notice the changes.
Wishing you well.

Dear Debbie,
Its great that you mention EFT. Almost everyone is raving about how effectiv it is. I have te manual, and I have to say I am really enjoying the set up phrases. They have made a very big difference to my handling of resistance.
I also like the information on psychological reversal. Reading about that for me was one of those light bulb moments.
EFT is definitely worthchecking out.

Dr. Debbie,
Thank You for reminding me of this
tapping technique. I had learned it years
ago from a very wise woman I was friends with and it refreshed me.
It really works.

Hi tattoedchef,
I'm so glad I caught your post and question, as I sometimes miss great posts simply because I am really busy right now.
Here is my take on your very good question about the LOA.
Yes, I have been in that position before.
But being afraid of your own thoughts, puts you at the effect end of them, and what you really want is to be, and remain at cause over your own thoughts, ie is being in control of your thoughts, rather than the other way round...which is having your thoughts controling you.
It's pretty hard to just stop your mind from thinking altogether, because that's what minds do. They think thoughts. What you could do is help your mind choose which thoughts to think. So you can sort of do a switch from one thought to another. You need to give your mind positive things to think about. So whenever you are getting one of those negative trains of thought, just switch to a different one rather than switching off. You can do this by asking yourself repeatedly 'what do I really want?' and thinking about the answer to that question.
To give an example. Say I was having the negative train of thought that:
'today is a bad day for me, everything I touch is going wrong, and nothing I am doing is working'
1. First I notice that this is, what I am thinking in the moment, and I can choose to switch to thinking about something else.
2. Second I can ask myself 'is this what I want to be thinking of?' If not
3. What do I really want?
the answer could be :
to have a good day, or
to feel good right now, or
to enjoy my day somehow, etc...etc...
4. I could then look around me and find something that gives me a good feeling. It could be anything, an object like a piece of furniture, a color, a sound like from music, an image or picture, a plant, anything.
The idea here, is to gently find something. As, it is in that process of looking for something, that I am automatically doing the necessary mental switch. Do you see how that works?
5. Now that my mind has switched, (even if very subtly), to something more positive, I cansimply notice that too.
6. Next is to keep focusing on the new more positive idea, object, etc..etc.., and whenever I notice again that my mind has wondered off to the old negative train of thought, I gently bring it back to this new object of thought, that gives me more pleasure.
7. If I keep repeating this simple process, throughout the day my mind will become more upbeat; and I will begin to notice my day changing too.
8. Once in a more positive frame of mind, I could further include some affirmations, like:
'I am feeling better and better by the minute.' or
'Just for this moment I can focus on (something good) because when I do that, I feel better.' or
'My day is getting better and better by the second'
Remember, the Law Of Attraction is meant to be a very simple and natural practice.
Just keep going, a bit at a time, while remaining gentle and kind with yourself and your beautiful mind.
I hope this helps.
