Introduction of Me, Artfulsoul

This is so cool.  I love this group.  I paint and its a big part of my life.  My guitar playing and singing has slacked since my mentor left town, so did my social life.  Interior Design is another passion of mine and I'm starting a related business and I write an art column for a small, very small, local paper.  I can relate to the comments I've already read.  Glad to join you all.  I get insecure when I am not using my gifts.

A quick hello and thanks - added: Sat, Dec 06 09:17 AM

Hello,

I have decided I will complete one of my unfinished paintings  before the end of the year.  That was a great idea.  The tools lesson the other day was on goals and I got that they need to be specific and measurable so I am adding this.  No one else has communicated with me but you, so I thought I'd say hello.

I always listen to classical music when I paint. Thus is the response to the musical part of your post. Smile

Hi Artful Soul - added: Sat, Dec 06 07:41 PM

I did just what you suggested you are going to do. I took out a painting that I had worked on a couple of years ago and completed it. At first I fiddled around just to get into the painting, and that worked out okay as I had forgotten how I mixed some of the colors and and how had done certain areas, Then I had it critiqued, which gave me some definite direction ("if you darkened the background, it would make the sunflowers pop") which gave me something more goal oriented, I finally completed it last week and donated it to a charity. It turned out better than I had imagined, so it was tough to part with. But the goal is to do another so as not to get too attached to it. Your idea is a good one.

I need to set another deadline... Yours is the end of the year; mine. I suppose, could be to  a couple Christmas-gift type smaller paintings.(One I started last year.) Hope you have fun with your goal.

Glad you are here! - added: Sun, Nov 23 06:13 AM

I'm so glad you are a part of our group! It's really helpful when you are not going it alone. The next thing is to find people in your community who like doing what you do. I found  an art guild two months ago and a couple members help me when I get stuck on a painting (or get stuck painting as they continually have shows and I have nothing to show just yet, but I will). Most small towns or nearby towns have some kind of club because there are people just like you who need your encouragement, you can pick up a phone or email in a pinch. You come to the right place and we can hlp each other. You can do it!
