the most difficult moment

hey there, just wanted to write about what i think is the most difficult moment in the addicts day: it is that moment where we are faced with the choice to do or to not do. It feels so easy to just say well, what the hell, this isn't going to hurt anyone, or I've just got to get this out of the way then I can think clearly again, or the self-effacing "I'll just admit to f-ing up one more time and get back on track tomorrow.

Pornography is so tempting because it is so easy to get at and is basically free, this doesn't change the fact that as adult men, mostly, we are debasing ourselves and hurting our self-esteem by acting out in a way that is really more suitable to a 13 year than a 30 year old.

How does it feel when we 'finish' viewing, all endorphins and adrenaline crashed from the completion of our exercise and then all of a sudden the bombardment of self doubt and self-flagellation hits us like a tidal wave, and NOW we have to face our clients, our co-workers, our family members. No way man, that is no way to confidently live 'the' life.

It can be really hard to say oh, I'll just save this sexual urge and take it home to my lover, maybe you don't have one, mine s 2,000 kms away and i see her maybe every 4 weeks, it is those times that it is so easy to slip, but it hurts the intimacy even from that distance. When we talk, I want to be turned on by the sound of her voice, butif I've viewed pornography that day, it's just not as powerful.

So let's take some time to think about the AFTER-effects of the act of viewing porn and make the controlled and informed decision to not do it in the first place...

THoughts?

after affects - added: Sun, Sep 27 12:08 PM

Yes I agree - The Internet has made porn ubiquitous and it seems harmless.. But the after effects are horrible.  I can hardly look my wife or kids in the eyes anymore.  Is it possible to stop?
