jammin

As a female percussionist I enjoy playing a whole variety of music with a diverse variety of musicians and vocalists. My musical tastes vary from classiccal, african rhythms, cuban style, 60 through to current top hits. My newest addition to my percussion collection is a wonderful set of congas, I've found them one of the most adaptable and loudest instruments I have yet. However I still favor my djembes most of all, because they allow for so many different sounds with a single instrument. What would we do without music in our lives? Gotta love living to the beat.

Hi, looking to Jam - added: 2009-01-02 13:07:57

Hi. I mainly play guitar, bass and harmonica, but have also gotten into hand percussion and drumming circles. I've always liked improvisational music, and like to think that my guitar style is close to that of Jeff Beck. I built my first drum recently, from some PVC tubing and leather that I had aro »

This is the guy that started it all for me! - added: 2007-01-25 00:00:00

Here's the love of my life - jammin! I played my guitar, and he beat his drums, and we played beautiful music together! He can still drum up a frenzy after 35 years! That's on the drums AND with me! hee-hee Smile I'm STILL so in love with my husband! I still feel like I'm sweet-sixteen and just met »

Sandy Nelson's drum solos? - added: 2007-01-09 00:00:00

Does anyone have a love for Sandy Nelsons drum solos from the early 1960s? Ive been hoping to collect some specific Sandy Nelson songs that I can download as MP3s for my husband onto our iPod (which we just got for Christmas). Back in the 70s when we had our high school band, were still a dating »

Join a new Jam - added: 2006-11-09 00:00:00

The whole point to jammin is in the creation of new sound. When you jam with the same people week after week and only play the tunes that you've always played, the experience is dulled. Not because you sound bad, but because there is no new inspiration, no new input to learn from. To just get togeth »

Djembe pleasures - added: 2006-11-01 00:00:00

One must find pleasures in something in this lifetime. I have found an unmeasurable amount of pleasure in immersing my mind and thoughts in jamming with others with my djembe. I've found an undescribable amount of self within time shared in making a fabulous sound with other musicians. Not only keep »

San Jose Taiko concert - added: 2006-11-01 00:00:00

Today, a wonderful percussion group, “San Jose Taiko” will be performing the traditional rhythms of Japanese drumming in my own town! My sister-and-law and I are going, and sitting in BOX seats for the two-hour performance tonight, and I’m so excited! I love their style, as I’ve listened to »

Hello! Great group! Welcome to Tools to Life! - added: 2006-10-26 00:00:00

It's nice to meet you, onehelluvawoman! I LOVE percussion instruments, and am married to a husband who plays drums, so you've already caught my interest and my spirit with your group! Do you remember the great Sandy Nelson from the 60's or 70's that did "Birth of the Beat" and other drum solos? They »
