commitment to change

Hi, just started Tools. I am 56. Five months ago, my husband of 38 yrs announced he was 'in love' with a 26 yr old w/ 2 small children. !! Everyday, I know that I need to change myself - have more self-esteem, make friends, get a life, move-on. With Tools I intend to do that. Thanks for any advice.

55 and refelecting on my life - added: Thu, May 08 10:00 AM

Hi, I just joined tools today too.  I was looking to find a support group that's in my age bracket.  I had a terrible year last year and it really hasn't gotten any better yet this year.  My husbands 20 year old daughter ended up going to a rehab center which cost us a fortune was diagnosed with bipolar and multiple personalities.  She was released and has been living with us.  Much to my chagrin.  She doesn't do anything to help herself and her problems (no meds, no counseling) and husband falls all over himself trying to please her.  Our home revolves around her, and her moods.  I've become very resentful to both her and my husband.  they both expect me to do everything in the house and won't lift a finger to help, like it's my job to take care of everyone.  I work full time and am feeling my world closing in around me.   I want out but am trapped because I don't have any where to go and don't make enough to live alone!  Any advise???
