NSU31, I feel ya too. I've been doing a lot lately because I use it to numb myself for all the problems in my relationship that I've been having lately. I just hate it because I always tell myself that I'll do one less the next day, then I don't. I feel hopeless and my boyfriend told me he didn't want me to hide it from him so I've just started doing it in front of him. The only motivation I have right now is my money disappearing. I have been through withdrawls before, many times, but I keep going back to this. I'm happy that this discussion board was made.--M

im going to give it a good try this week to stop cold turkey. my girlfriend is onboard she said she will help me however se can...my problem is when i try and stop i cant stop thinking about pills i cant go out of town with out pills i kinda panic if i dont have any. the only thing new this time is i can talk to other people with the same problems and hopefuly it will fill the void of cravings. thanks for all the great support.
Mawnster,
Obviously you came to this site to find the tools you need to create changes in your life. I hope you will do what you have to do to get clean.
I know as well as anyone how hard it is to detox. But it gets a lot better in a relatively short period of time. Do your research. Understand the symptoms, both in the short term (1st week) and the long term (post acute withdrawal syndrome).
There are a lot of natural supplements, vitamin, mineral, and protein combinations that you can use to recover faster than those simply toughing it out.
Good luck. I'll be happy to offer any support i can.
NSU31,
I know where you are coming from, believe me. No one could have told me shit when I was first getting "into" opiates. I had a handle on it. Just a few on the weekend is no big deal. Just a couple a day is fine. I've got a big day, better take a few extra.
It gets out of control for almost everyone. I would encourage you to look at some of forums related opiate/heroin abuse and recovery. Google it. If you take the time to read through people's experiences, you will see a pattern emerge. And 90% of the biggest junkies in the world started where you are now.
You're a grown man who's going to do what you want, but I hope you find the strength to be present in your life. The pills help numb us from the pains and stresses of life. The fact that you are on this site shows that you want to make improvements in your life.
Good luck. BTW, read up on the withdrawal process and post acute withdrawal syndrome. There are some great tips on making that uncomfortable process slightly more bearable.

Very glad to have found this group/discussion. Butterfly09, I read your profile and it broke my heart. I'm glad you are doing everything you can to stay strong and get stronger.
I do have a quick question however, and hopefully you still come back to visit this group as I know it has been a few months since it was created.
How long did you experience insomnia in the Post Acute withdrawal phase? I'm in my 2nd clean week and the intense stuff is over, but I can't sleep. I've read that it can take months. Just curious if you are sleeping soundly a year-plus later??
And NSU31, you are on a slipperly slope. Every raging pillhead / junkie that you know or have ever met started out on the same path you're on now. "It won't happen to me" "I've got it under control" "It makes me more productive", etc..
Some of the clues I was missing that were in plain sight were friends asking me if I was okay, missing social functions, no desire to do anything social (unless on the junk), decreased interest in family, job, etc.. Sex life becomes non-existent.
You are asking for motivation. The motivation I would offer is that you are no longer the same person you were 3-4 years ago, whether you believe that or not. And you are changing your brain chemistry and believe me, it takes some time to get back to normal. Your neuropeptide receptors that latch onto endorphins are shutting down. Everytime you take a pill you are flooding your system with endorphins. SOme research says that this damage can be irreversible. I am hopeful that it is not, having read many reports of former users returning to what seems like a normal existence, after much clean time under their belt.
Sorry for the long post. Butterfly..please feel free to add.
Good luck to both of you.
