Bio for K Wordbird Bate
K Bate has a lifetime of experience in the writing world. Since Mr. Hendrickson pinned her fourth grade fiction story up in the hallway, she has published 125 articles in 34 different publications. She writes web content, press release, and essay on line.
She is the winner of the coveted Loft non-fiction award, for memoir. She’s recipient of a Press Club Scholarship for newspaper feature. She began her career as assistant Editor for a military newsletter, then Staff Writer in public relations. She was Managing Editor, and Student of the Year, at her undergraduate University. She holds a Master’s in Communication Research. Ms Bate served as writing consultant and technical writer for Fortune 500 corporations. She is currently a Managing Editor and ghostwriter, on line. She is writing her first book, via NaNoWriMo.com. The story reflects on a Native American reservation.
As a natural compliment to writing, Ms Bate is a seasoned instructor. She is currently a development coach and editor for professionals creating self-help classes on line. She’s designed and taught adult classes in journalism, Rhetoric, and memoir. She created and taught seminars for managers, secretaries, programmers, engineers and corporate writers. She co-designed a 3-day seminar, How To Write User Documents, which she taught at universities across the USA. She has presented on intercultural communication. She’s a certified English as a Second Language tutor.
Wordbird is an amateur bird watcher and ecologist. She is a certified compost master and certified master gardener. This is her fifth year as an Audubon “Great Backyard Bird Count” participant. She volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, UUSC, and Hearts and Hammers. She is life coach advocate for individuals of conviction, and those who struggle.
The most good and dedicated teachers guide Ms Bate along her journey. Her mother and grandmother shared a gift of writing. Brave and passionate students are also teachers. They each created for Wordbird a certainty that everyone can find ability, and joy, in writing. If only you will write.
