When my older son was six years old, he played chess with a man who was ninety-nine years old. Now that may not seem like much competition, but at six my son was a nationally ranked chess champion and could beat most adults. I loved watching him play this elderly gentleman. The amazing thing was at 99, he was no slouch either! He played chess by mail, on the internet and with my son once a week. He also made a point of corresponding with someone each day, and he exercised daily by walking and lifting weights. He lived to be 104, and lived independently for 102 years until one day he broke his hip. After that he lived with his son, but the man's mind and body was that of a much younger person. I was always impressed that he lifted weights!ABMe
