I remember the Halloween candy scare. I'm not sure if there was a direct link to the end of trick or treating in Milwaukee a few years later when I was a kid, but in my mind, the link was there. I was so disappointed.

Fast forward quite a few years - my kids have enjoyed Halloween the way I did when I was young - before the scare. I feel like we live in Mayberry! Even the teens dress up and trick or treat! I love seeing the kids have good clean fun. I had five boys on my living room floor trading piles of candy and having a grand time after making their rounds. I also, had an additional six teenage boys here for movies and popcorn after my older son's  Halloween party was over.  If I lived in fear, my younger son would not feel safe trick or treating because I'd pass that fear onto him.  I, also, wouldn't want six teenage boys in my home for fear of drinking, drugs, or whatever imagineable fears I could conjure up. My eyes are open, but I don't want to live in fear, and I try not to.ABMe
