Success Stories: How Does It Work? »
| I don’t want to give too many details of what I have learned on Tools - that which I consider to be the REAL success story - as it may spoil the surprises ahead for those who read this who are coming up behind me. So I will tell you instead about the changes that have occurred since I began 90-something days ago. Some were conscious and required effort, some occurred without me even trying! I gave up smoking. This was a conscious decision and I wish I could say it was easy. It was tough, but Tools gave me the discipline to see it through, which I had consistently failed to do in numerous previous attempts. I have had no depressive episodes, which were a frequent occurrence in my life, since I began Tools. Knowing that I am in control of my feelings has made all the difference. I am starting to believe ( still very tentatively as it seems too much to hope for) that I may never be depressed again. And that would be HUGE! I have realized that I am actually a very OK kind of person, and I find I like myself, my values and principles, and being myself, after all. I have no inclination to re-invent myself at all. I just need to polish up my shine in a few areas J Now this is a big one for me. My relationship with my partner was really bad. I had so much anger and resentment that I couldn’t even do the Tools questions to attempt to deal with it. So I gave myself permission to move on, without addressing it. And would you believe, my relationship is so much better anyway now! I think this is because I have resolved so much of my own stuff, and am happier in myself that it has impacted on how I relate to my partner in a very positive way. Amazing - but shows it is true when they say: you cannot “fix” anyone else, you can only work on yourself. I realized that I have already learned a lot of the truths Tools teaches by myself over the years. Tools re-inforced for me what I already know, and in some cases, emphasized principles to which I had paid scant attention in the past. All this to my benefit. I have thanked Devlyn for this wonderful programme a number of times, and do so again now. I am a far happier and emotionally healthier person for having completed it, and am very very grateful for the opportunity it gave me to grow myself in such a comprehensive way. My sincere thanks once again for your dedicated efforts. I move forward in the awareness that in a measure, my success is your reward. And I will dedicate myself to that success, for both of us! |
