Success Stories: How Does It Work? »
I could go on about my success in completing this program on Day 90, but you've heard about my successes already (and I'm not egotistical enough to say that I never have to work at improving myself again). Most of you have been there viewing my progress, so I have another success story - YOU, my friends on this site.
I am a nice person. I cannot deny that. My friends say that all the time. You Toolers have said it to me constantly. I was taken advantage of being nice in my past. So what are my alternatives? Be an a$$ or jerk? Out of the question. Be more logical and practical-minded and less "emotional" like my best friends? I could, yes. They are the two best friends a person could ever have. But it wouldn't be me. I would only be a carbon copy of them.
I know who I am. I know that while I can be more mature and cautious in my decisions related to the heart, I will never give up my capacity for caring or looking for the goodness in others. I just won't be blinded by my heart ever again.
My fellow Toolers, you saw the goodness in me and nurtured it. You made me realize that this world (and the God that looks over it) was not as cold as I once thought it to be. There are other people like me who choose to find the good in any situation and I found a lot of them here.
I take to heart all the successes and setbacks of all of my friends on TOOLS. When I read about your triumphs, I am proud of you. When you grieve, you allow me some of your pain. I do not get involved in other's affairs or try to fix their lives anymore, but I will be there extending a hand when my friends are knocked down.
You, my friends, are my success story. I did the heavy lifting for my success, no doubt, but you are a HUGE reason that my success was possible. Each and every one of you will come out of this experience changed for the better. You will be strong, loving, and hopeful human beings.
And that is what this world really needs.
