Success Stories: How Does It Work? »
I am so far from where I want to be, but this last week I made two major steps. I started yoga, and I bought a guitar.
Yoga: I have been interested in yoga for years, but found the emphasis on physical fitness off putting. I wanted to feel serene/peace/joy. I found a wonderful lady in Rogers Arkansas to help me with that. And in this financial crisis, I don't have money for classes - she works on donations. I was worried I couldn't do it, or would feel inferior around others. She makes me feel so empowered. I may be new, but I can DO IT. I leave feeling so good. This is truly a life changing experience.
Guitar. I have wanted to play guitar my whole life. My father can play any stringed instrument (or could before arthritis) and seemed to be a natural. I just found out he was TAUGHT! It wasn't just "there". I am making the challenge to myself to learn. I may never be Aerosmith - but I will learn. I even made a purchase of a guitar and manual (pawn shop). With this particular economic crisis at home - I am the only person providing housing for 13 people, maybe this wasn't the best decision - but if I don't take care of me, who will take care of the other 13 people? I must have an out for stress, and I feel so good about it.
I like just holding it in my hands. I like feeling potential. I like hearing what little I can find on it. It feels positive in my hands.
So my success is I took two steps I have wanted to for years - yoga and guitar. Steps I didn't take for fear of failure. But already it feels good. Thank you Tools to Life.
