Full Moons, Sunsets, Summer Nights and Music.
Full Moons are a joy that I take full advantage of. The one that we experienced on Saturday Night was especially beautiful. Full Moons have inspired many things, Poetry, Song, Paintings, Odes and Lovers Hearts. Moonlight is romantic, catches the imagination, makes us want to walk in its path, dance in its light and howl like the wolves do. There is a bit of Gypsy in all of us - in me.
The Full Moon gives me hope, lights my way, brings out my fullness in being in love with life, with nature with the way that the Moon controls the tides and my moods sometimes. I feel more excited and in tune with things, with all the love in the world.
My son and I watched it and talked of things that all mothers and eleven year old sons do - Battles and Aliens, Boy Scout stuff and the lecture about doing your best in this new school year.
Sunsets are another joy - I am not a morning person - so I much prefer the sunsets. Last Night's was particularly wonderful. Its colors from blues to pinks, from purples to oranges and reds. I sat watching it from Conesus Lake after a concert. Sunsets, also consume the imagination, inspire painters and poets, writers and those that dream. As a Dreamer, a Writer, A Poet (but not a painter, lol), I use my moods and my inspirations to create.
When I see the wonder of a sunset, that never is the same twice, I cannot even think for a few minutes, I am too caught up, my whole being consumed by the beauty and the truly visceral experience. Then the fun that is my imagination catches fire and I HAVE TO put down my thoughts and feelings.
Is there any more enjoyable thing than spending summer nights out in the breeze, watching the stars and the constellations move across the sky, weaving pictures from the cloud formations, weaving dreams from imagination and heart.
Summer, for me, is a magical, mystical, let it out kind of time. When you can wear less, be more, Dancing in the Dark with Music played only for you, the sounds of nature all around you. There is a reason that animals are more active at night, they see so much better, they sense things. If I chose, I would be a cat, a sleek and powerful jungle cerval, living my life at the behest of the moon and the instincts given to me. HEY, this is MY Fantasy, so I can be anything I choose to be!
Summer means, outside activities, picnics, fairs, walks in the parks, strolls on the beach, candlelit dinners on the patio, falling alseep on the porch swing. I remember doing that when I was a child, it was my favorite place to sleep in the summer. Swimming and Hiking, Bonfires and Friends camping out. SMORES!!
Everything has an end, and summer as well, but the memories made each and every season are carried with us into the next and even when it is cold outside, we can revisit them when we need to.
Music has been for me a timeline, a soul keeper, I can tell you what has played at all the key times of my life. When I was a young teen, at my first Boy-Girl birthday party, we played The Partridge Family and The Osmonds on our little, blue, portable record player.
When I was sixteen and received my first wet, sloppy kiss from my first serious boyfriend - "You Are The Woman" by Firefall was playing on the radio while he sang in my ear - something I will always remember.
When I became a woman, it was "Kiss You All Over" by Exile (I KID YOU NOT< LOL!) There were slow dances to Allman Brothers and Boston, to Led Zepellin and Peter Frampton.
Cruisin with my best girlfriends meant Foreigner played really loudly - we would sing "HotBlooded" and "Feels Like the First Time" and ante up our change to pay the 68 cents a gallon for gas to put into whatever car we could use. I was reminded to add Loverboy's "Workin for the Weekend" into the mix as well! Thanks Robin!
Music is an International Language and we share it with all the other cultures out there, it is a common thread and a binding tie. I wll always choose it as my relaxation method and my best dreaming platform. I love Swing and Big Band, Salsa and Disco, Party Tunes and slow easy listening. I like Classical and Old Country, Oldies and Just about every song done in the 70's. Those were the years of my favorite memories.
Music makes me happy and fills holes made by the worries of adulthood and real life - Listen and remember all the things you did and said when they played - it will never let you down or disappoint you. Micci

I have similar memories, and I have eclectic tastes in music from Celtic to Rock to Blues and some which defy description.
I like what and I like and it makes me feel good.
