My name is Sean. I am 40, married to a beautiful lady and we have a wonderful 4 year old son. I met my wife in high school and we have been married for 18 years.
I was born and raised in Columbia, SC. This is where my family and I currently reside. I am a firefighter for the city of Columbia and also work for a compounding pharmacy.
I have recently decided to stop drinking and change my life. I have been alcohol-free since Dec. 21. I heard of this program through The Jason Ellis Show(RED DRAGONS!!).
I hope to gain some added support here. This change is not easy at times.
I am what one may consider a"functioning alcoholic". I lead a pretty normal life, my alcohol abuse aside.
I started drinking when I was 15. On the weekends at first, then more often when I went to college.
My recent decision to stop drinking is the first time I have been longer than 3 days without alcohol in 17+ years. Damn, that seems even more profound when I see it written down! Not something I'm proud of.
I was never the drunk that got into fights, arrested, or unfaithful. I do know that I have hurt feelings and acted foolish on many occasion though. I am extremely lucky to have a spouse that endured this and is still by my side.
I hope my future is a sober one. I hope to be a better father, husband and person.
