Day 4 - (Though technically day 9)

Day 4 though it should be day 9. Took my granddaughter away for the weekend and came back exhausted on Monday afternoon. Having spent the weekend with eyes in the back of my head trying to keep track of a 5 year old, I realised that I hadn't been quite so worried about who was around me or whether I was among groups of total strangers. Yes I was worried about who was taking any interest in a beautiful 5 year old blond haired girl but that's what parents/grandparents do. The moral of this story is when you have somebody else to worry about, self worry dissapears. As far as my health is concerned, I met an old manager of mine from a previous employment. We had parted on good terms when I left. I'd heard he'd been forced to retire on health grounds (heart/blood pressure problems). We exchanged pleasantries and he asked what I was doing work-wise. I explained that I wasn't allowed to work at present and told him my story. He then went on to tell me his story. It wasn't his heart that forced his retirement, He'd been diagnosed with cancer of the throat & neck. The Dr's told him they would never be able to rid him of it but they could reduce the tumors in size. He'd been through chemotherapy and sure enough the tumors had greatly reduced. His Dr's thought they'd more or less beaten it. He'd been told that morning that not only did it appear that they were returning, they'd found more tumors and the treatment was unlikely to work to the extent it had previously. His only worry - He'd only just got his hair back to how he used to have it and would end up loosing it again. Just shows there's always somebody else much worse off than yourself.
