One Work Project Put To Bed

I am a software developer.

One project that has been hanging around is a customer request to modify a  commercial product that we bought just for her. She doesn't like the way it generates receipts and it doesn't have some features that she absolutely must have for her business.

Well, my employer bought the source code to the product just so we could customize it. Unfortunately, they bought this product long before I came along and no one has ever tried to set up the code in a compiler and change it.

What a mess.

The day before yesterday, as I was walking to work, it occurred to me how I could  get the customer all of the features she wants, exactly the way she wants, without recompiling this product.

I spent the day building her solution, and she is a very happy camper.

Yea!!!
