How I got here

I'm 38, married and have a 10 year old son. I've spent the last 7 years in Australia because my hubby is Australian. It has been more lucrative for him to NOT fill out all the happy paperwork for us to be legal residents (he sits on his duff and watches TV and plays computer games all day compliments of Oz's very generous welfare system), so I have spent the last 7 years as a persona non grata... with no legal rights here, in a depressive rut, homeschooling my son (he's not allowed to go to school in Oz, so I have to do what I can) and literally making myself sick. I have managed to give myself SLE (from the stress) and on March 10 of this year had to be recessutated due to blood clots in my lungs, arms, legs...well, literally everywhere but it was the masses of them taking up over 85% of my lungs that nearly did me in and have been on thrombolytics to fix that since. I then decided that I needed to change something. And that *I* had to be the one to *DO* it.  So far, I've lost 30 out of the 100 lbs. I have to lose total and am starting exercise this week as I am finally recovered enough to do so. I also have been starting (well, restarting) my editing and writing business to save up money to go HOME! (the United States). I tend to procrastinate and sabotage my own best efforts. I'm hoping the tools can help!

Great job!

You almost lost your life! What an eye opener!! You are young, you have alot of life left. Losing 30 pounds is hard to do, you should be very proud of yourself. Continue to take care of yourself, you'll teach your son to love himself while doing that. FYI since you said you have 70 lbs more to lose, I'll tell you this. I'm an avid exerciser and I think some people who have weight to lose feel very out of place running, going to the gym, yoga... whatever it is you are doing for exercise BUT, from this perspective, we are out there thinking "look at your determination, your making a great choice for yourself and God bless you to stick with it!"  So just know, the people who look at you are not critical of you, we admire your strength!! You'll find support here!! Keep up the good work!

You can do it, keep going! You can do it, keep going!

WOW!

I'm impressed by your efforts.

A Mother's Strength

Caille, you hang in there.  Never forget that a mother's strength and determination can do the impossible.  Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and moving ahead for your son's sake.

I'm with you in the struggle to lose weight.  Maybe we can do it together.

You're not alone You're not alone

Thank you!!

Wow...it felt WONDERFUL to wake up to all the support in my mail box!  It *IS* going to be a great day! Thank you so much...it's amazing how much that support really lifted me up :) You ladies are awesome!

What can I do to help you?

Boy, it's a tough story and one I have so much compassion for.  Know that you are not alone and there are loads of us who will help you get through this.  You have lost the first 30 pounds, almost one third way there.  Congratulations!  I am in the same boat...need to lose 100 pounds but am two-thirds way there.  I have had some health challenges too but am using tools to try to see that I don't make my health the excuse to keep me from becoming better.  I only could do 10 minutes of exercise at first but it is getting better and better.  If there is anything I can do to help inspire or motivate you to keep on keeping on, please let me know.  I am there for you.
