"Just enjoy your family"...

I finally spoke to middle daughter on the phone.  They were in Washington D.C. enjoying a visit with her husband's parents when her husband's father suddenly dropped dead on the golf course Saturday.  I made calls and sent e-mails of concillation, but yesterday was hard for me.  Abbie pointed out that he went very quickly, he was doing something he loved, and he was with someone he loved but didn't get to see often.  Abbie is a neurologist, and she has the ability to balance being clinical and being compassionate at the same time.  I am so glad she and John were there!

I am listening to "A New Earth" on my Ipod.  Eckhart says the U.S. has a culture of false positivity, that is often inauthentic.  I think that is why I resist positive affirmations when I am in so much physical pain.  I can't stand being phoney.  But I can't stand being morose either.  That is not an identity I wish to project.  Abbie ended our phone converstation with, "Just enjoy your family, mom.  Every day."

Now that is being real.
