Welcome fellow Canuck.

Crazy Painter indeed, those are some mean stones in that fence.  Is it a watercolour, pencil, pastel?  That is a great way to manage getting through time.  You know how you can get lost in anything creative.  I'm pulling for you. Patricia.

rocks

The painting I use as an avatar is a limited edition print of a watercolour I did while living in Rockton Ont. I walked past this gate every day. I like to paint rough texture surfaces, like rocks.The symbolism of the subject struck me as serendipitous. I work as a palliative care nurse and while framing the original for competition I wrote a descriptive to go with each print

"An Open Gate"

A gate is a means of passage

From one place to the next.

The Rocks are the Foundation of our Faith,

the Stability of Family and Friends.

The Rocks are Obstacles we overcome

before we move on.

The Snow is quiet Beauty and Peace;

the Coldness we encounter.

The Wreath is a Circle.

The closing of a circle marks the end of one Journey;

the beginning of the next.

The other side of the wall is the Unfamiliar;

that which we fear, that which we in turn overcome.

As for getting lost in painting, that is where I truly find myself. From that realm come characters and creations I Knew not, but who become a part of my life. Scary sometimes.

How about a Mandala

Get yourself a wee A5 spiral bound notebook... spend a little bit more than you normally would as this notebook will become your special Mandala Journal - Then pick up a CD and trace around the outline of the CD on each page - or every left hand page whichever you prefer.  Every 2nd page if you wish to add words.  You can even get a notebook with the black paper and get some cool silver, white etc colors to use.  Creating mandalas can trigger understanding and insights on the journey you are on and over time are a wonderful and creative way to aid in returning your inner peace.
