I have a family consisting of a girlfriend and two step-like children (we're not married).   I've always had friends but I am a bit of an introvert.  I don't make new friends easily and since I moved for my job, I haven't made any friends.  I have a tendency to not get involved with people even when asked. 

I rarely called friends when I was younger.  I was more content to be by myself.  I would go out if someone called but would also often not answer the telephone and lock the doors and shut off the lights in case they stopped by.  But  I had a lot of friends and was fairly popular.  I'm generally a friendly guy.

I was a rampant underachiever.  I don't believe it was fear of failure, just practicality.  If I could get a B+ with no effort, was it worth putting forth the effort to get an A.  Not for me, I know I could get an 'A' if I tried but I could also be just as happy with a B+ and doing something enjoyable. 

I want to start my 35th year (middle age, statistically) as my best year.  I will get in shape, stop drinking to excess, and increase my social activities.
