Hey Eric. I am not currently trying to quit smoking. However I did quit smoking Weed 3 years ago, and Cigarettes 2 years ago. So maybe I can shed some light. I started smoking Weed and Cigarettes when I was 12. I started selling drugs at 13... I have done and seen alot of things in the last 8 tears with no regrets. Anyways, there's a life story for you.
Now for quitting weed, I found I needed space from my group of friends, I took a couple months off, and just did my thing. It became very easy to turn down a puff after that... Regardless of peer pressure and the lovly smell!
For Cigarettes it took 2 attempts. The first time I didn't take it seriously... I tried the patch for a week and gave up...
The second time was succesful. It finally felt right. I went on the Patch for 4 days, when I decided the Patch only delays the withdrawl. So I went Cold Turkey. It isn't easy, but it is certainly not as hard as I thought it would be!
The first week is the hardest, this is when you break your daily routines!
After that it gets easier and easier, after 1 MONTH you should feel back to normal! YOU CAN DO A WEEK RIGHT??!! Just stay focused and DO NOT GIVE IN!!!!! One single puff can get you started again!
Now to be honest I loved smoking and still wish I could handle smoking 3 a day to calm the nerves and get into deep thought... But that is not possible for me... I smoked 2 packs a day every day... And to this day I love the smell of second hand smoke, but know I am better off without them! I have so much more energy now! And I no longer hack a lung up every time the season changes!
GOOD LUCK!!
