Different kind of weekend

It was a great 4th of July weekend. I spent it all with my little girl and it was a blast. We saw family members that we have not seen in a while and did lots of fun things together. It felt good to spend time with all of those people that I love.

The reason it was a different kind of weekend for me is the fact that I was sober the whole time. I think the last time that happened was about 12 years ago when I was 16 or 17. In the past I would have been drunk the whole time and been blowing up all kinds of s*%t. The 4th was always my favorite party holiday next to halloween. Really im suprised I never got injured to bad in my adventures. The problem is that when I start drinking I don't stop and that has got me into lots of trouble, be it leagal or with friends and family. This is one of the things that I have decided to change ibn my life. Its nice being able to remember what I did the night before.

I am also very exited to start school this fall. I have been touring different Universities in the past weeks and will look at the last one tomarrow. I am still working on all of the finacial stuff but Im sure it will all pan out in time. I'm only on day 18 of tools but so far it has helped me so much with realizing what my goals are and working the small steps to accomplish those goals.

I don't blog very often but I do read others. Its very helpful and encouraging to hear about all of your milestones and successes.

Thank you all for your motivation and support.

Fur,

P.S. Can anyone tell me how to change music from a CD format to MP3? I want to put some music on my profile but I can't figure out how. I'm sure it is very simple but im not very computer literate.

Great job!

You are doing great my man!!  As for the CD to MP3 conversion, have you already ripped the CD's to your computer? If so there are tons of free converters online, just do a search for CD to MP3 converter.  I think I use dbPoweramp whenever I need to convert, but there are tons of them out there.  Good luck!

Off button

When I was drinking regularly, I always said I didn't have an off button.  If I went out, I either drank to black out, or I didn't drink (ha - that was like once).  I definitely know those troubles you mention...I don't drink very often anymore, but not because I've consciously decided to stop, I just don't.  However, I've noticed Tools has made me want to drink even less than I had been of late.  I like the self control that Tools has taught me, and I sure as hell didn't have any control over myself when I was falling down drunk.  I've also started taking care of myself better, physically, and even a single glass of wine blows up my daily calories (because I usually just drink water)..I'm sure you'll find more and more reasons to drink less as you work through Tools and realize the benefits!

Anyway, great job and keep it up!  There's a lot of support on here, so keep us posted on your journey!!
