Reading TTL to My Kids

I've started reading the TTL days to my girls (7 and 5).  I'm showing them how what Devlyn says applies to their lives and how it can make it better.  As  you might expect the 5 year old has little interest.  The 7 year old however, is more than interested and is thinking of ways to apply it to her life and how she was doing some things (like being on time) to her life and how important and respectful it is.  It is something that we have occasionally talked about and something most of the time is no issue.  When reading the "library" seccion aloud to her, she sees that  it isn't just mommy saying it's important, but the world out side of mommy takes being punctual seriously.  I am going to continue to teach her the days of TTL.  If she learns these things as she grows, then it will be nothing for her to do as an adult.  From making career choses, to who she marries.

I believe that if it becomes second nature to them, then life will be much easier or them as they grow.  Obviously, different challenges for different age levels, but it all is the same.  From setting the alarm clock, to being on time, to having a good attitude.  I have found with my older one that attitude is definitely a decision.  Since she was 1 1/2 she would decide and tell me at the beginning of the day that she was going to have a bad day (with her attitude) and sure enough, we'd have one monster of a day. I have no doubt that working with her with this program will increase her self awareness on how many choices she really does have (and all of us for that matter) and how much control and dare I say responsibility she has in what she does.

Can't wait to see how the rest goes

great idea

Your kids are so blessed that you found tools when they were little and are able to teach them these awesome lessons early in life.

Good Attitude

As a teacher, I have been trying to turn around the negative attitudes a lot of my high school students have.  It has been a real eye-opener as to how many students have convinced themselves they are stupid, or can't do the work, or tend to blame others (esp teachers) for their circumstances. More power to you for helping your kids take positive responsibility.
