Congrats on day 20. I struggle with allowing intimacy and friendship also but I'm working on tearing down the wall one brick at a time. Keep working every day. Charles

ey habit, here is a boost to get you going on journey through tools. One of the things that we need to learn is that we cannot change others and therefore they cannot change us. I hope you are still planning the wedding and that the 2 most important people are there on the day. Have a great day! Angie

I have a terrible habit of not allowing anyone to get close to me.   These intimacy issues can be traced back to my earliest memories. While I have been in a caring relationship for 20 years and have reasonably adjusted children. There isn't a sole on this planet that I am close to. I have many aquaintences, but no friends. It isn't that people don't try to befriend me. I will do everything possible to keep them at a distance.

This has come to a head recently, as my life partner wants to have a formal wedding. It bothers my wife that I don't have any friends or relatives to invite to our wedding. She now wants to start "making friends" and I am not interested. It upsets her and this is my first start at trying to amend the situation.
