No More Nerves

I have never been good at or interested in speaking. Just the thought of it would tie my stomach up in knots. Last week, I got a called from someone who wanted to interview me for the Arizona Republic about my selection to the All-State Academic Team. I couldn't refuse because it was my chance to let older people know that it's never too late to get an education.

The interview went very well and I was not nervous at all. What a surprise! I actually enjoyed it. The next day, I received a letter from someone who wants to interview me for their radio show and another from someone who wants to interview me for his upcoming book.

My confidence has improved so much with the help of Tools that I don't even hesitate anymore to speak about what I do. This is such an empowering change for me. I was once so very shy and now I have a voice and I'm not afraid to use it. Yeah!

Yep. Absolutely right.

You've got yourself going now.  You know you can do it and you will.

In my profession, I've worked with public speakers, presenters of large seminars, politicians, salespeople, radio and television announcers...   you name it.  Guess what, every single one of them is as insecure and unconfident as you.  Like you did, they just go out and do it.

Much of my work involves talking on the telephone.  All my life, I've hated talking on the telephone.  In my private life, I avoid it and I do it very badly.  As a professional, I'm outstanding at it - because I decide to be.   I also make speaches, teach classes and seminars, and perform with a band...   and I hate and fear every one of them, but I do them well because, like you did, I simply decide to do it.

Wonderful!  As our friends down under say, Good On You!
