My mother is/was the most rigid, controlling person I've ever met.  I grew up in a tiny box - figuratively.

I grew up believing life was unfair, I was a victim and that I had no power to do anything.

On September 13, 1982, I almost died in a plane crash.  I was severely burned and injured.  I'd love to say that I immediately choose to grow up and "get a life".  Instead, I spent the next two years trying to drink myself to death because I was terrified of everything.

Eventually, I did get the help I needed.

I can now say that that day was the most profound day of my life.  I am truly grateful for everything I've experienced as a result of it.  I'm truly grateful for who I have become as a result of it.

I've been in thrival and discovery since then.  I love who I am today.  Whining and complaining have no place in my life.  I am proactive and responsible for all of what I am and have.  Even the parts that I don't much like ;-)  Maybe even, especially those parts.

I'm a glass and jewelry artist and teacher.  What has been the most powerful thing for me is overcoming my fear of fire and working with a torch to create works of art in glass.  The beads are really a "by product" for me - being in front of the torch and molding glass into shape is what I love.  It is a freeing, meditative process.

What really makes my heart sing is to teach others to work with a torch and make beads.  Most of the people I teach come to the torch with lots of fears, insecurities and self doubt.  Seeing the transformation is transformational for me, too.

OK, what are "tags" for? ;-)

Oh My! I thought those were keywords where have I been (under a rock I guess). Once again Charmed has said it all. Love her twist on life! So tag you're it!

What is your answer?

I joined TOOLS because:
I've longed for a mentor much of my life. I have a mission - to build an art's retreat - partly to work with "At-Risk" kids. If I were a kid today, with the beliefs and behaviours I grew up with - I'd be in big trouble. I was selfish, self centred and completely lost. It's taken me a long time to sort things out. I am grateful for the journey and have a great deal to share with others to maybe help to make their lives richer and more focused on growth and personal development. Focused on understanding how we create our lives and that it is possible to create an "on purpose" life.
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
A life coach for teens and adults.
My favorite wild animal is:
I know that a whale ia a mamal but it is my favourite wild "animal".
Why (describe as much as possible):
They seem to be communal. They seem to care for thier young. But mostly it is the grace and ease they exhibit. When I watch them, they seem to be unhurried, unworried and filled with an intelligence way beyond us.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
I love dogs - just about all dogs - for very different reasons. Most of the dogs I've been around seem to be saying "how can I help you? Please, just tell me what you want me to do and I WILL do it." Their energy is infectious, loving and joyful. I love cats for their curiosity, their tenacity and their independence.
Why:
 see above ;-)
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
My favourite food is Asian - I love all of the different flavours and spices. I'd just leave the details up the the famous Chef
Why:
I'm adventursome when it comes to most anything/everything. I guess I'd go with whatever was the Chef's favourite - when something is your favourite, you tend to put all you have into it - so, it would be awesome.
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
My Gramma Stavert, Wayne Dyer, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandella, Hitler
Why:
Gramma was a very independent spirit with a great sense of humour. A peaceful soul that I knew very little about. - Wayne Dyer = Listening to Wayne helped to get me and keep me sober. Listening to Wayne started me on my journey to recovery, thrival, personal growth and helped to shape who I am today. - Mother Theresa - her relentless dedication to peace. Her humility. That one could live without anything of their own and be filled with peace and love. Nelson Mandella - that he grew stronger and more of who he is in the face of such adversity. Hitler - to understand - to me, Hitler is the epitome of fear. I'd like to know how to get to the root and heal it.
My perfect slice of pizza is:
The pizza that I got at a pizzeria in Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario, Canada during my boyfriends university days in the early 1970's. Thin bread crust (not soda bisquit) with pea meal on the bottom. Triple cheese, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, pepperoni, black olives
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
Well, I probably wouldn't be in a bar because I'm an alcoholic ;-) but, if I were, my drink would be club soda with lime - my favourite. Before I die, I'm going to drink a bottle of Dom Perrignon - or two ;-)
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
I love chicory in coffee. Coffee shops here do not have chicory in coffee. But, if I could, I'd order a blend of the richest, darkest coffee with hazelnut and vanilla coffee and chicory. Blended about 1/4 each.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
An endless supply of money to get out of debt, build HART Camp, pay off debts of everyone I love (including you, the reader, if you choose ;-), Perfect health, friendship and respect of everyone I meet.
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring (separate by commas):
Anything of Wayne Dyer's, my CD with all of the Diva's and Bond, Peak Potentials meditation CD
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Buy all of the houses and property adjacent to me and buy new homes for all of the people whose property I just bought = so that I'd have lots more land to build a larger school - to play with more people.
A sunset I remember:
In 1995, we went to Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys for Valentines Day. The island could be traversed in under an hour. Thatched roof "huts". We stayed in the boat. the weather was perfect. The day was perfect. Need I say more?
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
When I was 9 or so, I discovered Nancy Drew books. I read voraciously. My mother hated that I read them. Said that I was far more advanced a reader than to read that garbage. What she didn't understand... Here was a young girl who was strong, courageous, independent, intelligent, creative... All of the things I wanted to be and did not believe I was or ever could be. I am all of those things.
Why:
 see above ;-)
