Kayla, Thank you SO MUCH for your well-thought-out and kind respnse to my blog. My initial reaction was to say, "I love and apppreciate you." You really did give me clarity. I am going to get a tape recorder this week. I am going to keep moving on but I am going to revisit each day, slowly, one day at a time. In addition, I am putting together a binder and printing all the Coach's notes, Readings, checklists, etc. (This aligns with the Clutter Reduction challenge, also.) So, again, thank you for your kindness and the time you took to give me clarity. And, if you ever need a resume, contact me. That's what I do.

I have been married for 22 years.  Our one child is now a teenager.  We have faced many challenges in the past few years.  Our son has a chronic illness, and both my husband and I have faced and survived life-threatening illnesses.

At the moment, I face a serious challenge about my next step career-wise in life.  I am a professional, who used to love my work. I am now at a crossroad, again.  I did not return to my beloved work after returning from my health leave, because I wanted to take on a less stressful role.  I took a risk and tried something new.  The situation took a bad turn in the late winter.  I can see my part in it and take full responsibility for learning from any mistakes I made.  The main reason I will be leaving, however is because I was not in philosophical alignment with the requirements of the position.

I know the person I want to be and believe I can be, because I have been that person at various times in my life and it feels stunningly wonderful, full-hearted, moving and right.

I was so happy to read what Devlyn Steele wrote about how our positive actions can have a ripple effect.  As a very young child - three, four, five - I used to be questioned about my beliefs by other children, because we were the only family that was not Christian/Catholic in our neighborhood.  I told my friends it didn't matter what our religion was, because God was the same for all of us.  I told them that God was everywhere, including our hearts, and that what we needed to do was be good to each other, so that everyone's heart could grow and we would have no more hurting or wars.

As I have continued to work my way through Tools, I see the same message being spiraled through about human decency, morality, commitment, and responsibility to one another. My former profession allowed me to inculcate and reinforce these values and behaviors in youth and the adults who served them.  I need to find work that is as meaningful again.  I need to be in a position to do what's right.

Meantime, I have achieved some of the above, but as life's circumstances have stressed me, I have fallen into patterns and ruts that I learned along the way, which I really want to change.

I know I want to be a healthy, calm, loving, gentle, understanding, kind and balanced wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.  I know I want to earn a substantial living, but not give myself and my health away as I did in the past as a frenzied workaholic.  I want to live a balanced life, where I empty myself of fear, anger, resentment, envy, worry, and negativity and let in love, joy, health and energy.  I want to learn to set limits and boundaries that are healthy.  I want to be able to laugh at myself, not take myself so seriously.  I want to love my life.

How has Tools impacted your life?

Most popular answers

says: TOOLS has taught me to challenge my negative thought patterns. It has taught me to control my attitudes. I have learned to see myself as valuable and important in life and that the choices I make are my own. Peace!

What is your answer?

My Personal Assessment is not public.

I joined TOOLS because:
I want support to make lasting positive changes in my life.
You are offered your dream job. What job is it?:
A job that allows me to use my skills and experience with ease to serve the greatest good, which also supports a healthy and abundant lifestyle.
My favorite wild animal is:
 The tree frog.
Why (describe as much as possible):
Tree frogs are happy in water, on land and climbing trees. They are extremely agile and graceful and have a terrific sense of balance. Although they are quite small and rather cute they are very powerful. They jump for joy regularly and can take flight from branch to branch secure in the notion that they will land on their feet. They are fearless creatures.
My favorite domestic animal is (if you choose dog be specific with breed etc):
 Lambs
Why:
They are adorable, peaceful, and cuddly. They're domestic animals, but they live outside. And, as they grow, they provide renewable resources. I love wool clothing and sheep's milk cheese and yogurt. Nothing cures my chapped skin like lanolin.
A famous Chef will prepare anything you want. What do you order:
I ask him what he would recommend, but let him know I prefer organic dairy and chicken, wild fish, whole grains, and loads of vegetables. I would also let him know that spicy food is fine by me.
Why:
I like the idea of a surprise and giving a creative soul license to do something new, unusual and different. I would prefer to have something I've never tried before.
Five people either dead or alive you would have at your fantasy dinner party::
I would be happier to invite 500. By the time I get my greater family settled, we're already talking at least 32 people. Not including family, then, I would invite: Groucho Marx, Sid Caesar, Robin Williams, Steve Martin and Tom Hanks
Why:
I love to laugh. I love the company of funny, good men. And these men all have depth of character.
If a pilot would fly you anywhere you want, you would go to:
New Zealand. Lots of lambs there.
My perfect slice of pizza is:
Papery thin crust, fresh tomato, oregano, garlic base for fresh mozzarella.
You are at a bar. You order this drink:
Seltzer, with a twist. I've decided not to drink alcohol anymore.
You are at a coffee shop. What coffee or tea do you order:
 Green pearl tea.
If a genie could grant you three wishes they would be (separate by commas):
Inner Peace, Health and Abundance to share.
You are going on a long road trip and you can only bring three CD's. Which ones do you bring (separate by commas):
I would download as much music of my liking onto the 3 cd's rather than choosing any particular 3 artists or bands.
If I could do anything for my neighborhood today, it would be:
Open a youth center, where middle and high schoolers could hang out, work out, play ball, play music, read, get homework help, tutoring, college and career counseling, join clubs to develop their interests in the arts, technology, community service.
A sunset I remember:
Sitting by a lake in Finland, land of the midnight sun, at the height of summer. Watched it for hours. Fell asleep before it set completely.
Any character I could be from a movie, TV show or book would be:
 Pippi Longstocking.
Why:
I adore her optimistic disposition, irreverent honesty, generosity, self-confidence, worldly innocence, loyalty to her friends and her total lack of self-consciousness.
