Art

If you want to see art, I would suggest going alone.  I go to galleries and museums alone for the most part.  Art is something that I treat myself to and share it with very few.

I like to go alone so that I can absorb what I am seeing without anyone distracting me.  I love to travel alone too.

The biggest thing to remember about any art form is how it makes you feel.  True art is moving and truthful to you.  Don't let other people's opinions of art change how you feel about what you like in art.

For example, I love Salvadore Dali.  His paintings are very surreal and almost of another world.  My mother who also loves art thinks Dali is "too weird." He maybe weird for her, but I love his work.  Art is very subjective.  That's why it is best to go alone to see art and get your feel for it.

So if you want to see art, just go!  See modern, see classical, read books on art.  Get a feel for what moves you and inspires you.

I love Raphael of the Italian Renaissance and Titian of the Venetian School.  Someone else may love de Kooning or Pollock.  They are abstract artists who do nothing for me, but I know others who love them.

So treat yourself and see art by yourself.  Art is a treat for the soul.

my way of looking at it

I personally like to go with other people as well as on my own because sharing opinions helps us see things from another angle, which can make all the difference. Sometimes it changes the perception of a work completely, but more often in a good than bad way, for me. If I go on my own I often ask the the assistants for more information if something is intriguing. it's also a chance for them to talk about art, which is what they're interested in doing.

Not criticising your way of looking at all, just noticed it's different to mine!

Best wishes xx
