Double think

I think this qualifies as a break through. I find myself really listening to what I say to others and what it sounds like and what messages I might be unintentionally conveying. I look for things like complaining, making excuses, and putting things negatively. I consider myself a pretty positive type. But the self listening is showing up negatives where I did not expect them. Now I am attempting to censor ahead. I guess that's sort of like reverse thinking.

One of the changes this allow was for me to sit down with one of my best staff members and address a situation in a totally new way. I strove to understand why a certain habit kept getting in the way, found a way to express my commitment to her in an effore to help her break through the habit, and then got her to look examine the source of her habit and got her to suggestion solutions she could use to overcome the habit.

What really work for me was this at no time every a boss/employee relationship, but rather, two people working through an issue to reach a solution together that would represent a win for both of us.

I can't wait to work through some other issues at work this way.
