Gaing More Control

Yesterday I went into the day telling myself not to drink too much during football.  I tried to visualize the end result - a hangover and unacceptable performance at work Monday.

That technique worked well for me.  I started with my game day ritual of shots from a flask of schnaps during pre-game.  I quickly and out of habit made myself a Margarita. As I was half way through the drink my inner self called me out on what I was doing.  I emptied out the remainder of my drink and started to drink water.

After a devestating loss to a better team instead of being angry, mean and/or drinking heavily I know nothing good would come out of those behaviors.

I am stoked about the noticeable change in my thought process and behavior.  I spent a few minutes rationalizing the football situation and overall am pleased with the growth of the team throughout the adversity they faced this season. I am even more stoked about myself and that I can start to think about things differently.

I am looking forward to the rest of the changes t his program has to teach me!

Yay Baby!  I really noticed how well you dealt with the whole thing and am glad to see you pushing yourself to make better decisions, especially when it surrounds football as I see that as a common trap for you - an excuse you use a lot to make poor choices.  Bet you were glad you weren't all hungover Monday. ;)
